About the Assistant Manager, Restaurants Role

Courtyard by Marriott in Riyadh Region is seeking an Assistant Manager for its Restaurants. This full-time position involves the daily supervision of restaurant operations, contributing to guest and employee satisfaction, and ensuring high standards of service and operational efficiency. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

The Assistant Manager will oversee areas including Restaurants/Bars and Room Service. Responsibilities include assisting with menu planning, maintaining sanitation standards, and supporting servers and hosts during peak meal periods. This role is crucial in striving to continually improve both guest and employee satisfaction by identifying training needs and implementing plans to achieve departmental goals.

Operational Management

  • Assisting in the supervision of daily shift operations and overall restaurant operations.
  • Ensuring all employees have the necessary supplies, equipment, and uniforms.
  • Communicating any issues regarding food quality and service levels to the Chef and Restaurant Manager.
  • Ensuring compliance with all restaurant policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Monitoring alcohol beverage service in compliance with local laws.
  • Managing operations to achieve or exceed budgeted goals.
  • Performing duties of restaurant employees and related departments as necessary.
  • Opening and closing restaurant shifts.

Guest and Employee Relations

  • Interacting with guests to obtain feedback on product quality and service levels.
  • Supervising staffing levels to meet guest service, operational needs, and financial objectives.
  • Encouraging employees to provide excellent customer service within established guidelines.
  • Handling guest problems and complaints, seeking assistance from supervisors when necessary.
  • Setting a positive example for guest relations and assisting in the review of comment cards and guest satisfaction results with employees.
  • Handling employee questions and concerns, and monitoring employees to ensure performance expectations are met.
  • Providing feedback to employees based on observation of service behaviors.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should possess a high school diploma or GED with 4 years of experience in the food and beverage, culinary, or related professional area. Alternatively, a 2-year degree from an accredited university in Food Service Management, Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related major, combined with 2 years of relevant experience, will be considered. The role requires 5-10 years of overall experience.

Additional Responsibilities and Skills

  • Supervising on-going training initiatives and utilizing on-the-job training tools.
  • Communicating performance expectations and coaching/counseling employees regarding performance.
  • Providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates through various communication channels.
  • Analyzing information and evaluating results to solve problems effectively.
  • Assisting on the floor during meal periods and high-demand times.
  • Recognizing good quality products and presentations.
