About the Role
RiDiK is seeking an Azure FinOps & Cloud Cost Analyst to join our team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This is a full-time position focused on managing and optimizing Azure cloud spending.
Azure Billing and Cost Management
The Azure FinOps & Cloud Cost Analyst will be responsible for comprehensive monitoring and reconciliation of Azure cloud usage and costs. This includes:
- Monitoring daily, weekly, and monthly Azure consumption, charges, credits, commitments, and spending trends.
- Reconciling Azure invoices and billing statements against Cost Management data, exports, agreed rates, credits, and adjustments.
- Analyzing costs across subscriptions, resource groups, services, environments, applications, owners, projects, and business units.
- Maintaining monthly cost reporting, explaining material changes, unusual charges, and key cost drivers.
- Tracking Azure credit burn rate and forecasting depletion dates based on documented assumptions and scenarios.
- Supporting cost allocation, showback/chargeback initiatives, and improving data quality for tags and ownership information.
Optimization and Savings Realization
A key aspect of this role involves identifying and implementing cost optimization strategies to achieve savings. Responsibilities include:
- Identifying and quantifying optimization opportunities such as rightsizing, managing idle resources, implementing shutdown schedules, optimizing storage tiers, leveraging licensing benefits, and utilizing reservations and savings plans.
- Maintaining an optimization pipeline that tracks opportunity value, owner, action, approval status, implementation date, risk, and expected payback.
- Collaborating with infrastructure, application, data, security, and service owners to validate feasibility and agree on implementation actions.
- Tracking recommendations through implementation and verifying realized savings against an agreed baseline.
- Highlighting cost-risk trade-offs to ensure optimization efforts do not compromise availability, performance, security, or business continuity.
- Utilizing Azure Advisor and other cost management data, while independently validating financial impact.
Forecasting, Governance, and Reporting
This role requires robust forecasting, governance, and reporting capabilities to manage Azure spend effectively.
- Producing monthly rolling forecasts for Azure spend and consumption, incorporating actual usage, seasonality, project demand, commitments, and expected optimizations.
- Estimating new workload costs using the Azure Pricing Calculator and documented technical assumptions.
- Configuring or supporting budgets, alerts, anomaly reviews, tagging controls, and recurring governance routines.
- Preparing concise monthly dashboards covering actuals, forecasts, variances, cost drivers, credits, commitments, optimization pipeline, realized savings, and key risks.
- Maintaining auditable calculation logic, source data, assumptions, and evidence for reported savings and forecasts.
- Recommending improvements to Azure financial governance, cost ownership, and accountability.
Routine IT Budget Support
The role will also involve supporting routine IT budget activities.
- Providing Azure actuals, forecast, and variance inputs to the IT budget owner.
- Supporting recurring budget updates or basic variance analysis as requested.
- Assisting with limited non-Azure budget activities when capacity allows and without compromising the primary Azure FinOps focus.
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates should possess the following qualifications and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in cloud cost management, Azure billing, FinOps, or cloud financial analysis.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure Cost Management + Billing, including cost analysis, exports, budgets, alerts, and billing data.
- Demonstrated experience identifying Azure optimization opportunities and quantifying or tracking savings.
- Strong proficiency in Excel, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP or equivalent, complex formulas, and Power Query. Power BI experience is strongly preferred.
- The ability to translate technical consumption data into clear financial insights and actionable recommendations for both technical and management audiences.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical reasoning skills, stakeholder coordination abilities, and a disciplined approach to documentation.
