About the Role

National Medical Care Company (Care) is seeking a Biomedical Engineer to join our team in Riyadh. This full-time position is essential for maintaining the operational readiness and safety of critical medical equipment, directly supporting the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Role Summary

The Biomedical Engineer is responsible for implementing comprehensive maintenance programs for all hospital equipment, including electronic and electro-mechanical devices used for patient connection or disease diagnosis. This encompasses a wide range of equipment such as Defibrillators, Cardiac Monitors, Infant Care Centers, Incubators, Infusion Pumps, Audiometers, Electrosurgical Units, Microscopes, Spirometers, Dental Chairs, and Anesthesia Units. The role requires sound judgment, with consultation with supervisors as needed, and participation in an on-call rotation for medical equipment emergencies.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure a superior quality of medical treatment, compassion, and understanding for every patient served at Care Hospitals.
• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on electro-medical equipment and instruments.
• Analyze, install, evaluate, and correct malfunctions on medical systems and instruments.
• Conduct scheduled and unscheduled repairs and preventive maintenance on various units, ensuring operational safety.
• Set up test procedures for equipment and measure the performance of newly purchased devices, reporting findings to the product evaluation committee.
• Evaluate demonstration units or on-loan equipment for safety and function.
• Calibrate and assure the performance of conventional and complex medical systems.
• Analyze equipment for failures, faults, or malfunctions using technical expertise, test instruments, and reference literature.
• Conduct safety testing of equipment with analyzers, including electrical leakage current and defibrillator analyzers.
• Prepare and enter data into logs, reports, forms, and equipment records concerning inspections, repairs, and operational status.
• Stay informed about developing technology in clinical engineering.
• Adhere to all department policies and procedures.
• Participate in ongoing departmental education programs, including those on policies, fire safety, risk management, and environmental control.
• Perform other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the scope of the employee’s knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Qualifications

• Graduate engineer from an accredited university in Biomedical, Electronics & Communication, or Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
• A special course in Communication, Instrumentation, or Industrial Engineering is preferred.

Experience

• Two (2) to five (5) years of experience in Biomedical Engineering.
• Minimum of two years of experience in an acute care hospital facility with at least 150 beds, gained either in Saudi Arabia or internationally.

Compliance and Professional Development

The Biomedical Engineer must strictly adhere to department policies, procedures, and applicable accreditation standards such as CBAHI and JCIA. Continuous professional development is supported through participation in ongoing education programs. The role is subject to on-call duties for medical equipment emergencies to ensure uninterrupted patient care.
