Business Developement Manager Oil & Gas

About the Role

AWS EMEA SARL (Saudi Arabia Branch) is seeking a Business Development Manager, Oil & Gas, to join its Energy team. This full-time role is based in Riyadh or Dammam and focuses on the intersection of cloud technology and the energy industry in the Middle East. The manager will support major energy companies in modernizing operations and accelerating digital transformation across the region.

Role Context and Focus

The Business Development Manager will own the regional strategy for energy in the Middle East, identifying opportunities where data and AI can generate insights and accelerate value across the energy chain. The role involves understanding the full energy landscape, from exploration and production to refining, petrochemicals, pipelines, and LNG. This position requires engaging with VP-level engineering and digital leaders to shape solutions, develop reference architectures, and drive complex pursuits from initial contact to signed deals. The manager will operate with autonomy, building a pipeline and collaborating with AWS account teams, ISVs, and systems integrators.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and manage a global go-to-market strategy for the midstream and downstream energy segment, identifying priority use cases and customer targets.
• Engage VP and C-level leaders at major mid/downstream companies, building advisory relationships and connecting operational challenges with AWS solutions.
• Create and deliver technical content, including whitepapers, reference architectures, and solution briefs for use cases such as digital twins and carbon management.
• Collaborate with partners, customer account teams, and industry deployment and systems integrators to co-develop solutions for refining and pipeline operations.
• Identify and qualify new business opportunities with energy customers in the Middle East, developing and executing strategies aligned with regional priorities.
• Build and deliver technical presentations, workshops, and proof-of-concept demonstrations tailored to energy industry use cases.
• Develop and maintain a robust pipeline, tracking progress and providing accurate forecasts to leadership.
• Represent AWS Energy at regional industry events, conferences, and executive briefings.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree.
• 5+ years of experience in developing, negotiating, and executing business agreements.
• 5+ years of experience in solving problems with technology within the Energy & Utilities industries.
• 5+ years of professional or military experience, with 5+ years in Go-To-Market, Business Development, Sales, or Consulting.
• Experience working with and presenting complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences, including executives, and developing strategies that influence organizational-level leadership decisions.
• Experience with Data & AI technologies (AI/ML, GenAI, Analytics, Database, and/or Storage) and Advanced Compute technologies (Accelerated Compute, HPC, Visual/Spatial Compute, and/or IoT).

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in business economics, engineering, analytics, mathematics, statistics, information technology, or equivalent.
• Experience interpreting data and making business recommendations.

Experience and Skills

Candidates should possess direct experience within the energy industry, understanding operational aspects from drilling rigs and control rooms to plant floors, or involvement in digital transformation programs. Knowledge of DCS, historians, OSDU, reservoir management, turnaround planning, and pipeline SCADA modernization is beneficial. The role requires operational credibility, commercial instincts, and the drive to support energy companies in the Middle East with AWS solutions.
