Project Overview: Expo 2030 Riyadh

Bechtel is collaborating with Expo 2030 Riyadh Company (ERC) to manage the infrastructure program for Expo 2030 Riyadh. This global event, themed “Foresight for Tomorrow,” is scheduled from October 2030 to March 2031, anticipating over 40 million visits. The project encompasses a 6 km2 Masterplan, providing a framework for participation and infrastructure, including 491,100 m2 GFA exhibition space for up to 197 participating countries and 29 international organizations. Bechtel's scope includes early works, utilities, and public spaces such as streets and parks. Following the six-month event, the site will transition into a mixed-use legacy development, adhering to international sustainability standards for urban afforestation, treated water, and energy sources.

The Role of Civil Engineer Design

As a Civil Engineer Design, you will be responsible for conducting design coordination and reviews, alongside client interviews to define work scope and cost estimates for civil/structural aspects of projects. This full-time role involves leading the design, development, modification, evaluation, and constructability reviews of civil/structural components and processes. Your technical expertise will be essential in ensuring that the unique and complex civil/structural requirements of each project are met.

Key Responsibilities

Schedule, conduct, or coordinate detailed phases of civil/structural engineering work for multidisciplinary projects, including reviewing original designs, layouts, details, drawings, and specifications for structures, buildings, and roadways.
Participate in the design, development, and modification of Civil/Structural components and processes, utilizing relevant procedures, design standards and guides, Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs), and Design Control Check List (DCCL).
Coordinate work and collaborate effectively with other engineering disciplines.
Evaluate, select, and apply standard Civil/Structural engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria, exercising independent judgment in making adaptations and modifications.
Check structural engineering deliverables, such as steel and concrete calculations and specifications.
Analyze problems involving conflicting design requirements, sketch ideas, and propose viable solutions.
Assist in the preparation of quantity take-offs for proposals, forecasts, and change orders.
Prepare or assist in the preparation of conceptual studies, designs, reports, or proposals.
Coordinate Civil/Structural engineering efforts in assigned areas with specialty groups, engineering disciplines, the client, vendors, contractors, construction teams, and other functional groups.
Provide technical assistance to other Civil/Structural personnel and interact with project functions and customers.
Offer assistance to project and construction management in identifying and complying with project Civil/Structural requirements and in addressing issues as they arise during project execution.

Required Experience

Candidates for this Civil Engineer Design position should possess between 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in civil/structural design and engineering, particularly within complex project environments.
