About the Role

Bupa Arabia is seeking a Consultant Orthopaedics Upper Limb to provide specialized care within the ICC physical clinic in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This part-time, in-person role focuses on evaluating, diagnosing, and managing a broad range of acute and chronic upper limb musculoskeletal conditions, including fractures, tendon and ligament injuries, degenerative joint disease, and nerve entrapment syndromes. The consultant will also manage pre-operative assessments and post-operative follow-ups.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive, in-person upper limb orthopedic care during scheduled part-time clinic sessions, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and follow-up.
• Conduct comprehensive clinical evaluations, including history taking, physical and functional examination, and review of relevant imaging findings.
• Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based management plans, including non-operative management, pre-operative work-up, and referrals.
• Manage common upper limb orthopedic conditions, ensuring continuity and coordination of care with the full-time clinical team between sessions.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams, including physiotherapy, to deliver integrated, patient-centered care.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in the EHR to support seamless handover and continuity of care.
• Promote musculoskeletal health through preventive counseling and value-based care principles within available clinic hours.

Quality Assurance and Compliance

• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and caregivers, providing clear guidance on diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up care.
• Ensure compliance with clinical, ethical, and regulatory standards, maintaining accurate and complete medical documentation.
• Maintain current knowledge of evidence-based sports medicine practice and in-clinic regulations through continuous professional development.
• Contribute to clinical governance by participating in quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and regulatory compliance programs.

Professional Development and EHR Proficiency

• Continuously enhance clinical knowledge in upper limb orthopedics and best practices through relevant conferences, workshops, and CME activities.
• Integrate the latest clinical evidence into practice to improve the quality, safety, and effectiveness of patient care.
• Maintain accurate, complete, and timely clinical documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) in compliance with organizational policies.
• Demonstrate proficiency in the clinic's EHR system and participate in ongoing training to optimize performance.

Patient Safety and Satisfaction

• Uphold the highest standards of patient safety by delivering evidence-based care and adhering to established clinical safety protocols.
• Identify, report, and escalate patient safety risks, incidents, and quality concerns according to organizational policies.
• Counsel patients and caregivers on diagnoses, treatment plans, medication use, and follow-up care to support informed decision-making.
• Deliver compassionate, patient-centered consultations through effective communication, comprehensive clinical assessment, empathy, and shared decision-making.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should possess 5-10 years of relevant experience in orthopaedics, with a focus on upper limb conditions. The role requires a commitment to delivering high-quality, safe, and efficient orthopedic care within a part-time framework, coordinating closely with clinical and administrative teams to ensure continuity of care.
