Consultant Orthopaedics Upper Limb

About the Role

Bupa Arabia is seeking a Consultant Orthopaedics Upper Limb to provide specialized care within the ICC physical clinic in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This part-time, in-person role focuses on evaluating, diagnosing, and managing a broad range of acute and chronic upper limb musculoskeletal conditions. The position requires 2-5 years of relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive, in-person upper limb orthopaedic care during scheduled part-time clinic sessions, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and follow-up for shoulder, elbow, wrist, and hand conditions.
• Conduct comprehensive clinical evaluations, including history taking, physical and functional examination, and review of relevant imaging findings.
• Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based management plans, including non-operative management, pre-operative work-up, and referrals.
• Manage common upper limb orthopaedic conditions such as fractures, tendon and ligament injuries, degenerative joint disease, and nerve entrapment syndromes.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams, including physiotherapy, to deliver integrated, patient-centered care.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) to support seamless handover and continuity of care.
• Promote musculoskeletal health through preventive counseling and timely referrals, applying value-based care principles.

Quality Assurance and Compliance

• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and caregivers, providing clear guidance on diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up care.
• Ensure compliance with clinical, ethical, and regulatory standards, maintaining accurate and complete medical documentation.
• Contribute to clinical governance by participating in quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and regulatory compliance programs.

Professional Development and EHR Proficiency

• Maintain and continuously enhance clinical knowledge in upper limb orthopaedics and best practices through ongoing professional development.
• Participate in relevant conferences, workshops, and continuing medical education (CME) activities.
• Maintain accurate, complete, and timely clinical documentation in the EHR, demonstrating proficiency in the system.
• Participate in ongoing training and adopt system enhancements to optimize performance and user experience.

Patient Safety and Satisfaction

• Uphold high standards of patient safety by delivering evidence-based care and adhering to established clinical safety protocols.
• Identify, report, and escalate patient safety risks, incidents, and quality concerns.
• Counsel patients and caregivers on diagnoses, treatment plans, medication use, and follow-up care.
• Deliver compassionate, patient-centered consultations through effective communication, assessment, and shared decision-making.

Collaboration with Healthcare Teams

• Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care and optimize clinical outcomes.
• Provide clinical expertise and recommendations to support evidence-based decision-making and integrated care planning.
• Facilitate clear and timely communication among healthcare professionals to ensure continuity and quality of care.
• Mentor and support junior physicians and healthcare professionals through clinical guidance and knowledge sharing.
