About the Role

Robert Walters is seeking a Director - Gaming, Esports & Innovation to join a client's team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position is pivotal in shaping a world-class Gaming and Esports destination within the region. The role focuses on strategic innovation and experience leadership, defining future products and digital experiences.

Role Purpose and Context

This Director will operate at the intersection of Gaming, Esports, Innovation, Digital Experience, and Technology. The primary objective is to define the next generation of gaming and entertainment experiences, rather than managing existing products. This involves identifying new opportunities, evaluating emerging technologies, engaging global partners, and influencing significant investment decisions to shape the future landscape of gaming and esports on a global scale. The expected salary for this position is SAR 70,000 - 90,000 per month.

Key Responsibilities

• Define the future product and experience vision across Gaming and Esports.
• Identify emerging trends, technologies, and business models within gaming, esports, and digital entertainment.
• Develop future-state experience concepts and strategic product roadmaps.
• Evaluate innovative technologies, platforms, and solutions from global providers.
• Engage with gaming companies, esports organisations, technology providers, content creators, and strategic partners.
• Assess potential partnerships and technology solutions from customer, commercial, and strategic perspectives.
• Develop recommendations for technology, product, and experience investments.
• Translate business and guest requirements into high-level product and technology concepts.
• Collaborate with technology, product, commercial, and asset teams to implement concepts into deliverable initiatives.
• Challenge existing technology roadmaps and proposed solutions to ensure alignment with strategic objectives.
• Contribute to governance, investment reviews, and long-term strategic planning.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in product strategy, innovation, digital experiences, technology strategy, strategy consulting, or a related field.
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Digital Product Management, Technology, Innovation, or a related discipline.
• Proven experience in shaping future products, digital experiences, or innovative propositions.
• Strong understanding of emerging technologies and digital platforms.
• Experience evaluating technology solutions, strategic partnerships, and investment opportunities.
• Excellent commercial and strategic thinking, with the ability to translate emerging trends into actionable recommendations.
• Strong stakeholder management skills and experience influencing senior leadership.

Desired Skills and Background

• Experience in Gaming, Esports, Interactive Entertainment, or Digital Entertainment.
• Alternatively, experience within Sports, Media, Entertainment, Theme Parks, Attractions, Hospitality, or large-scale consumer experiences.
• Experience working with gaming platforms, publishers, esports organisations, content creators, or technology providers.
• Exposure to emerging technologies such as AI, AR/VR, immersive experiences, and interactive technologies.
• Experience working on large-scale entertainment, destination, or transformation projects.
