The Role of Exploration Director

SGR is seeking an experienced Exploration Director to join our team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position is pivotal to securing the long-term feedstock supply for our refining operations and plays a critical role in supporting the Kingdom’s mining sector growth. The Director will be responsible for leading the identification and acquisition of high-quality gold resources, managing all aspects of exploration from license acquisition to resource definition. Reporting directly to the CEO, the Exploration Director will significantly shape SGR’s upstream strategy.

Key Responsibilities

The Exploration Director will oversee a broad range of activities, including:

• Define and execute the annual exploration strategy to identify and secure viable gold assets.
• Manage the application and renewal process for exploration licenses with the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources.
• Oversee drilling campaigns and geological modeling to ensure accurate resource estimation.
• Control the exploration budget, ensuring efficient allocation of capital across projects.
• Enforce strict health, safety, and environmental standards for all field operations.
• Build relationships with government entities, local communities, and joint venture partners.
• Recruit, mentor, and manage a team of geologists and field specialists.
• Prepare and submit technical reports to regulatory bodies and internal leadership.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates for this role must possess a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in mineral exploration, with a proven track record in leading successful exploration programs. The position requires a leader capable of navigating complex regulatory frameworks, effectively managing technical teams, and consistently delivering tangible resource growth.

Expected Outcomes and Impact

The Exploration Director is expected to drive significant impact through the successful execution of the annual exploration strategy. This includes consistently securing new exploration licenses and substantially increasing the volume of inferred and indicated resources within SGR's portfolio. The role demands rigorous adherence to the approved exploration budget and maintaining the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance, aiming for zero lost-time incidents in all field operations. Furthermore, the Director will ensure the timely submission of all regulatory reports, the successful completion of drill programs on schedule, and the effective retention and development of key technical staff.
