About the Role

AECOM is seeking a Health & Safety Manager to join our team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive health and safety programs. The successful candidate will ensure workforce protection and full compliance with both local and international regulations, fostering a culture of safety excellence across all operational levels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve health and safety policies, procedures, and programs in alignment with Saudi Arabia's labor regulations and international standards.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments and hazard analyses across all work areas to identify potential dangers and recommend appropriate control measures.
  • Investigate workplace incidents, accidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Maintain comprehensive health and safety documentation, records, and reports required for regulatory compliance and internal audits.
  • Organize and deliver safety training programs to employees at all levels, ensuring awareness and understanding of safety protocols and procedures.
  • Perform regular safety inspections and audits to monitor compliance with established standards and identify areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with department managers and supervisors to integrate safety requirements into daily operations and project planning.
  • Prepare and present safety performance metrics, incident reports, and recommendations to senior management.
  • Stay current with changes in health and safety legislation and ensure organizational compliance with new requirements.
  • Coordinate emergency response planning and conduct drills to ensure organizational readiness for potential incidents.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies and external safety auditors.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • 15 years of experience in health and safety management, preferably within consultancy, construction, or manufacturing environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations, including Saudi Arabia's labor laws and international standards.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex safety issues and develop practical solutions.
  • Demonstrated expertise in risk assessment, hazard identification, and incident investigation methodologies.
  • Proficiency in developing and implementing safety management systems and programs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to train and educate diverse audiences.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Experience conducting safety audits and compliance inspections.
  • Familiarity with emergency response planning and business continuity procedures.
  • Proficiency in using safety management software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong decision-making capabilities and the ability to prioritize competing demands.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in occupational health and safety (such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent).
  • Previous experience working in Saudi Arabia or the Middle East region.

Additional Information
