Junior Backend Engineer

About the Role

TAWANTECH is seeking a Junior Backend Engineer to join their team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position requires 2-5 years of experience and focuses on developing, maintaining, and supporting reliable backend applications and services. The role ensures business capabilities and digital products align with established engineering and security standards.

Role Purpose

The primary purpose of this role is to contribute to the development and maintenance of robust backend systems. The Junior Backend Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the stability and security of applications that support TAWANTECH's business operations and digital product offerings.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend services and APIs using Java and Spring Boot within a microservices architecture.
• Translate functional and technical requirements into working, tested software solutions.
• Integrate services with various databases, internal platforms, and external partner systems.
• Work with event streaming and messaging technologies such as Kafka and MQ under guidance.
• Write clean, maintainable, and testable code in adherence to engineering standards.
• Perform unit testing, debugging, and resolution of defects.
• Apply secure coding practices, including implementing authentication, authorization, and data protection requirements.
• Support deployment and monitoring on containerized platforms like OpenShift/Kubernetes through established CI/CD pipelines.
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and squad ceremonies.
• Support production troubleshooting efforts under the guidance of senior engineers.
• Maintain relevant technical documentation for developed systems.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of development practices and application quality.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of backend development experience.
• Working knowledge of Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, SQL, and Git.
• Understanding of data structures, algorithms, and debugging fundamentals.

This is a full-time position based in Riyadh, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The role involves working within a collaborative engineering team, contributing to the development and maintenance of critical backend systems.
