Role Overview

Sword Group is seeking an experienced Liferay Solution Architect to join their team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves leading the technical architecture for a large-scale digital platform built on Liferay DXP, deployed on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) with Kubernetes. The architect will serve as the primary technical authority for how content, identity, and integration flows interact with the Liferay layer across a multi-vendor ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

• Define the overall architecture for deploying Liferay DXP as a headless, decoupled content/experience layer.
• Design the platform's API consumption model, authentication integration (OAuth2/OIDC/SSO), and RBAC/ABAC permission model.
• Define API contracts, versioning strategy, and developer-portal approach for teams/vendors consuming Liferay content.
• Establish content modelling standards, multilingual/RTL publishing patterns, and workflow governance within Liferay.
• Lead technology decisions on Liferay's extension strategy (Client Extensions, headless APIs) versus custom microservices.
• Define caching, performance, and scalability strategy to meet sub-300ms content-API response targets.
• Own security architecture decisions affecting the content layer: encryption, key management, WAF/DDoS posture, and regulatory compliance mapping.
• Chair technical governance across multiple vendors/teams — resolving integration conflicts, approving API contract changes, ensuring architectural consistency.
• Produce and maintain architecture documentation, runbooks, and technical decision records.
• Mentor backend and platform engineers on Liferay best practices.

Required Experience and Technical Skills

• 10+ years of experience in solution or enterprise architecture roles, including cloud-native systems.
• Deep, hands-on expertise with Liferay DXP, including headless APIs, Client Extensions, workflow engine, and Document & Media.
• Strong background in microservices architecture, API design (REST/GraphQL), and event-driven integration patterns.
• Proven experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and Kubernetes, or directly transferable cloud/Kubernetes experience.
• Strong security architecture background, including OAuth2/OIDC, IAM, encryption/key management, and zero-trust design.
• Experience leading technical governance across multiple vendors or teams on a shared platform.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical strategy for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Architectural Leadership and Governance

The Liferay Solution Architect will serve as a key technical leader, guiding critical technology decisions regarding Liferay's extension strategy versus custom microservices. This role involves chairing technical governance across multiple vendors and teams, resolving integration conflicts, approving API contract changes, and ensuring architectural consistency. Additionally, the architect will be responsible for mentoring backend and platform engineers on Liferay best practices to foster technical excellence.

Preferred Qualifications

• Liferay certifications (*, Liferay Application Developer, Building Enterprise Websites with Liferay).
• Cloud architecture certification (*, OCI Architect or equivalent).
• TOGAF or equivalent enterprise-architecture certification.
• Familiarity with regional data-protection and compliance frameworks.
