The Role: Mainframe CICS System Programmer

HCLTech is seeking a highly talented and self-motivated Mainframe CICS System Programmer to join its team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves advancing technological solutions through innovation and creativity within a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Independently build, configure, and upgrade CICS Transaction Server regions across all environments.
• Install, apply maintenance, customize, and configure CICS associated products.
• Install, maintain, and administer MQ, including supporting highly available Sysplex MQ environments, shared queues, and MQ cluster configurations.
• Perform problem determination, troubleshooting, research, and resolution of complex issues using system diagnostics.
• Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, including dump reading and use of performance monitors.
• Utilize SMP/E concepts and IBM tools for identifying problems and fixes.
• Use the CICSPlex Web-User-Interface to create and administer changes in CICSPlex environments, such as transaction route rules and real-time analysis.
• Create historical reports using Tivoli and SMF data for customer inquiries regarding transaction response time, storage & CPU usage, file I/O counts, and wait reasons.
• Monitor CICS performance using Omegamon and TMON in response to client calls.
• Read and interpret CICS system dumps.
• Install, customize, and maintain third-party products such as Compuware’s Abed-Aid/CICS, Xpeditor, and CAFC.
• Participate in Disaster Recovery exercise activities and planning.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Proven capability in independently building, configuring, and upgrading CICS Transaction Server regions.
• Proficiency in CICS associated product installations, maintenance, customization, and configuration.
• Experience with installation, maintenance, and administration of MQ.
• Strong problem determination skills, including troubleshooting, researching, and resolving complex issues.
• Demonstrated strong problem-solving skills, including dump reading and use of performance monitors.
• Understanding of SMP/E concepts and IBM tools for identifying problems and fixes.
• Proficiency with SMP/E (commands, terminology, problem determination).
• Experience using the CICSPlex Web-User-Interface.
• Ability to create historical reports using Tivoli and SMF data.
• Experience monitoring CICS performance using Omegamon and TMON.
• Ability to read and interpret CICS system dumps.
• Experience installing, customizing, and maintaining third-party products.
• Participation in Disaster Recovery exercise activities and planning.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in independently managing projects of mid and high-level complexity.
• Familiarity with IBM Assembler language for code and dump analysis, and working with Exits.
