About Masdr and the Role

Masdr delivers integrated digital data and business solutions to public and private sector organizations. These solutions aim to enhance operational efficiency, improve customer experience, facilitate data-driven decision-making, and ensure compliance with regulatory and cybersecurity requirements through advanced digital technologies and enterprise platforms. We are seeking a Manager Solutions Architecture to join our team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in a full-time capacity.

Core Responsibilities in Solution Architecture

The primary purpose of this role is to manage and oversee all solution architecture activities. This involves translating approved product and business requirements into scalable, secure, and technically feasible solution designs. Key responsibilities include:

• Defining target-state and transition architectures, technology roadmaps, modernization priorities, and architecture principles.
• Assessing application disposition, dependencies, technical debt, lifecycle, strategic technologies, and reuse opportunities.
• Managing the development of end-to-end solution architecture concepts based on approved product and business requirements.
• Leading the translation of business and product needs into high-level solution structures, components, integrations, data flows, and service interactions.
• Ensuring solution designs are scalable, modular, secure, and aligned with Masdr’s enterprise and platform architecture standards.
• Validating proposed solutions against customer needs, technical feasibility, delivery constraints, and operational requirements.
• Ensuring solution architecture outputs are complete, documented, and ready to support downstream engineering and delivery activities.
• Supporting technical discussions with business, product, engineering, and external partners to clarify solution scope, assumptions, and dependencies.

Technical Requirements and Architecture Governance

This role ensures robust technical governance and the definition of clear requirements throughout the solution lifecycle:

• Leading architecture design workshops, decisions, exceptions, technical risk acceptance, standards compliance, and architecture assurance.
• Ensuring the definition and adoption of reference architectures, reusable patterns, secure coding/design standards, quality gates, and engineering guardrails.
• Overseeing the translation of approved solution concepts into clear functional and non-functional technical requirements.
• Ensuring technical requirements address integration, performance, security, availability, scalability, and compliance.
• Reviewing solution architecture deliverables to ensure adherence to approved architecture standards, templates, guardrails, and governance requirements.
• Leading cross-functional architecture validation with Product, Technology, Cybersecurity, Platform Architecture, and Delivery stakeholders.
• Ensuring traceability between approved requirements, solution designs, and delivery outputs throughout the solution lifecycle.
• Assessing the architectural impact of scope or requirement changes and providing recommendations on technical implications.

Solution Readiness and Delivery Support

The Manager Solutions Architecture plays a key role in preparing solutions for successful delivery and supporting implementation teams:

• Driving modernization initiatives, including GOSI separation, cloud migration, platform simplification, and reduction of legacy dependencies.
• Identifying and addressing architecture-related dependencies, design gaps, and technical risks that may affect delivery.
• Supporting delivery teams in resolving solution architecture issues and clarifying approved technical designs during implementation.
• Coordinating with relevant stakeholders to ensure solutions remain aligned with approved scope, architecture principles, and technical requirements.
• Leading architecture reviews and contributing to stage-gate assessments and solution review activities by providing required architecture documentation and technical assessments.
• Monitoring architecture-related actions and dependencies and escalating material risks or deviations to relevant stakeholders.

Leadership and Functional Management

This position involves significant leadership and management responsibilities to ensure the effectiveness and strategic alignment of the Solutions Architecture function:

• Ensuring effective cascading of the departmental strategy into sectional business plans for vertical alignment and horizontal integration.
• Managing the effective achievement of assigned objectives through leadership of the section, including setting individual objectives, managing performance, and developing staff.
• Managing the preparation and recommendation of the sectional budget and monitoring financial performance.
• Managing and ensuring effective implementation of departmental policies, procedures, and controls.
• Leading the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement and sustainability of systems, processes, and practices.
• Ensuring all sectional reports are prepared timely and accurately, meeting Masdr requirements and quality standards.
• Managing and guiding the Solutions Architecture team in delivering consistent and high-quality architecture outputs.
• Providing technical guidance and support to team members and promoting consistent application of architecture standards and practices.
• Collaborating with Product, Engineering, Platform Architecture, Cybersecurity, Delivery, and business stakeholders.
• Supporting capability development, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement within the Solutions Architecture function.
• Preparing and maintaining relevant architecture reports, documentation, and management updates.

Required Experience

Candidates for this role should possess 5-10 years of relevant experience in solution architecture or a related field.
