About the Role

Marriott International is seeking a Mgr-Training to join its team in Riyadh. This full-time role is central to driving company values and philosophy by ensuring all training and development activities are strategically aligned with the organization's mission and vision. The Manager of Training collaborates with the property leadership team to identify and address employee and organizational development needs, focusing on effective training programs that enable the achievement of desired business results.

Core Responsibilities

The Mgr-Training is responsible for a comprehensive range of activities related to employee development and training effectiveness. Key areas of focus include:

  • Administering employee training programs, ensuring broad participation and understanding.
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of training initiatives to ensure a measurable return on investment.
  • Developing strategic training program plans and managing associated budgets.
  • Driving brand values and philosophy through all development activities.

Training Program Administration

This role involves actively managing and promoting training initiatives to foster service excellence and guest satisfaction. Specific duties include:

  • Promoting and informing employees about available training programs.
  • Demonstrating leadership in guest hospitality and customer service, setting a positive example.
  • Assisting employees in identifying specific behaviors that contribute to service excellence.
  • Ensuring ongoing training to help employees understand and meet guest expectations.
  • Utilizing effective training methods to ensure comprehension and demonstration of guest satisfaction skills.
  • Meeting regularly with the training cadre to support ongoing efforts.
  • Observing employee service behaviors and providing constructive feedback to individuals and managers.

Development, Evaluation, and Budget Management

The Manager of Training is responsible for the full lifecycle of training programs, from strategic planning and development to effectiveness measurement and financial oversight. Key tasks include:

  • Monitoring enrollment and attendance in training classes.
  • Meeting with participants to assess progress and address concerns.
  • Partnering with operational leaders to evaluate employees' technical and leadership skills.
  • Reviewing guest satisfaction data and other feedback to identify areas for improvement.
  • Measuring the transfer of learning from training courses to operational practice.
  • Ensuring adult learning principles are integrated into training programs.
  • Identifying performance gaps and collaborating with managers to develop and implement targeted training.
  • Adjusting training methodology and conducting re-training as necessary.
  • Aligning current training and development programs to impact key business indicators effectively.
  • Establishing clear guidelines for employee expectations and parameters.
  • Developing specific training initiatives to enhance service performance.
  • Incorporating guest satisfaction as a continuous improvement focus in departmental meetings.
  • Participating in the development of the training budget and managing controllable expenses in alignment with financial goals.
  • Utilizing procurement cards as appropriate for departmental expenditures.

Candidate Qualifications

Candidates for this position should meet the following educational and experience requirements:

  • A 2-year degree from an accredited university in Human Resources, Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related major, combined with 2 years of experience in human resources or a related professional area, and certified trainer status.
  • OR a 4-year bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related major, with certified trainer status (no work experience required with a 4-year degree).
