Operations Support Engineer

About the Role

LanceSoft Middle East is seeking an Operations Support Engineer to join their team in Riyadh. This is a full-time, shift-based role that includes on-call support to ensure 24x7 operations. The position requires the engineer to work from the airport, often without access to a phone or internet during working hours, necessitating a high degree of self-reliance and expertise to manage requirements independently. Travel to other Saudi airports for installation and implementation tasks will be required as needed.

Key Responsibilities

The role involves a combination of hands-on infrastructure engineering, Windows administration, network and firewall configuration, virtualization, hardware deployment, and operational troubleshooting. Specific responsibilities include:

• Support the end-to-end implementation and deployment of airport eGate infrastructure across various cities and airport locations.
• Install, configure, and commission physical servers, workstations, network equipment, and associated eGate infrastructure.
• Install, configure, and maintain Windows Server and Windows Client operating systems in accordance with approved infrastructure standards.
• Perform server and workstation configuration, domain joining, user administration, service management, and routine system maintenance.
• Configure and troubleshoot DNS resolution, DNS records, DNS caching, static and dynamic DNS configurations, and name-resolution failures.
• Support approved DNS-based access-control and security policies, including understanding DNS filtering/blocking mechanisms.
• Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot site-to-site VPNs and remote-access/client VPN connectivity.

Required Skills and Knowledge

Candidates must demonstrate practical capability and working knowledge in the following areas:

• Windows Server and Group Policy Administration: Proficiency in managing Windows Server environments and implementing Group Policies.
• Network and Firewall Configuration: Working knowledge of TCP/IP, IPv4 addressing (including subnetting, routing, switching, VLANs, gateways, private/public/loopback/link-local addressing, and APIPA), DNS, and FortiGate firewall fundamentals.
• VPN Administration: Experience with configuring and troubleshooting site-to-site and remote-access VPNs.
• VMware Virtualization: Practical knowledge of VMware ESXi and vSphere environments, including understanding Type 1 and Type 2 hypervisors and their operational use cases.
• Hardware Deployment: Experience with physical server and network infrastructure installation.

Experience Required

Candidates should have 5-10 years of relevant experience in operations support or a similar engineering role.

Work Environment

This position is based in Riyadh and requires working from the airport. It is a full-time role with a shift-based schedule and on-call responsibilities to ensure continuous 24x7 operations. The nature of the work environment requires strong independent problem-solving skills.
