About DallahHealth and the Role
DallahHealth is seeking a dedicated Pediatric Surgery Consultant to join its medical team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves providing the highest attainable standards of patient care within delineated clinical privileges and supporting the Head of Surgery in the overall management of the department. The ideal candidate will possess 5-10 years of relevant experience and a strong commitment to clinical excellence and ethical practice, in full compliance with Dallah Hospital Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations.
Clinical Responsibilities and Patient Management
The Pediatric Surgery Consultant will assume full responsibility for the comprehensive care of pediatric patients, from initial assessment through treatment and postoperative management, ensuring compassionate and effective outcomes.
- Take full responsibility for the appropriate admission, monitoring, and compassionate, appropriate, and effective care of patients attending allocated Pediatric Surgery Outpatient Clinics or presenting at the Emergency Room, admitted under the specialty or referred for opinion and management.
- Assess patient needs, perform the normal range of pediatric surgical procedures in the operating room on a routine or emergency basis, and manage the postoperative care of patients.
- Direct and coordinate the management of trauma in children.
- Investigate, diagnose, and treat the health conditions of patients by using scientific evidence to improve patient care practices.
- Prescribe and review patients’ medication appropriately and timely.
- Closely monitor the medically necessary length of stay of patients.
- Write clinical notes (including assessment and care plans) in patients’ medical records as per hospital policy.
- Comply with appropriate blood or blood product use and antibiotic stewardship programs as per hospital policy.
Departmental Contribution and Professional Development
In addition to direct patient care, the consultant will play an integral role in supporting departmental operations and fostering a culture of continuous learning and ethical practice.
- Support the Head of Surgery in the overall management of the department.
- Manage any assigned Resident Staff/General Practitioners allocated to the department, participating in arranging rotas and periods of leave towards the protection of the required 24-hour cover.
- Participate in patient and family education to help patients and families to better understand and participate in their care and make well-informed care decisions.
- Perform any other duties within the range of professional knowledge and skills as directed by the Head of Surgery and/or Chief of Medical Staff.
