About the Role

King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre is seeking a Pharmacist III to join their team in Riyadh. This is a full-time position focused on the preparation and dispensing of medications within a hospital setting. The role requires a dedicated professional with a commitment to patient safety and adherence to established pharmacy standards.

Core Responsibilities

The Pharmacist III is responsible for the accurate preparation and dispensing of both sterile and non-sterile medications, including specialized agents like anti-neoplastic drugs. This involves meticulous attention to detail in compounding, filling, and double-checking prescriptions to ensure patient safety and therapeutic efficacy. The role also encompasses the management and security of all pharmaceutical stock, including controlled substances and narcotics, in compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.

Medication Order Review and Processing

A key function of this role is the thorough review and evaluation of medication orders. This includes verifying demographic data, assessing the appropriateness of therapy, dose, frequency, route, and dosage form. The pharmacist will also identify potential drug interactions, allergies, and consider relevant laboratory values to ensure safe and effective medication use.

Operational Duties

The Pharmacist III will perform various operational tasks essential to pharmacy function. This includes operating and troubleshooting pharmacy robotic equipment, pre-packaging medications, and maintaining accurate dispensing and record-keeping systems. Inventory management is also a critical aspect, involving ordering, monitoring stock levels, and ensuring timely disposal of expired medications according to established procedures.

Quality Assurance and Training Support

This position involves contributing to quality improvement initiatives and assisting in the monitoring of medication-related activities. The Pharmacist III may also provide guidance and support to new pharmacists, pharmacy assistants, residents, trainees, and students, under the supervision of a senior pharmacist. Maintaining a clean and organized work environment is also a fundamental expectation.

Qualifications and Experience
