About the Role

Tangent International is seeking a PS Core Engineer for a contract position based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This role is central to the design, configuration, optimization, and troubleshooting of Ericsson Packet Core solutions, requiring significant hands-on experience with relevant equipment and technologies. The ideal candidate will possess 5-10 years of experience in a similar capacity.

Role Overview and Impact

The PS Core Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the high availability and performance of mobile broadband services. This involves working directly with Ericsson Packet Core solutions, including EPC, MME, and 5G Core. The role demands a proactive approach to maintaining network integrity and performance, collaborating with various engineering and operations teams to achieve service excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform daily health checks and monitor alarms on Ericsson PS Core nodes, including MME, EPG, PCC/PCG, SAPC, SMF/UPF, NEF, and ESOA.
• Troubleshoot and resolve network faults, capacity issues, and performance degradation.
• Manage subscriber sessions, PDP contexts, bearer handling, and IMSI tracing.
• Implement new APNs, IMSI ranges, rating groups, and QoS profiles.
• Configure PCC rules, PDR/QER/FAR/URR policies, and interface with PCRF/SAPC.
• Manage DNS/NAPTR/SRV configurations for IMS and EPC services.
• Support the integration of new PS Core nodes, such as vEPG, vMME, and vUPF on cloud/Kubernetes platforms.
• Plan and implement software upgrades, patches, and capacity expansions.
• Analyze Key Performance Indicator (KPI) trends, including attach success, bearer setup, handover success, latency, and throughput.
• Develop and maintain scripts using Bash, Python, Expect, and AWK for log parsing, KPI analysis, and automation tasks.

Technical Expertise and Requirements

Candidates must possess 5-10 years of hands-on experience with Ericsson equipment and a deep understanding of Ericsson Packet Core solutions. This includes proficiency in managing and troubleshooting EPC, MME, and 5G Core environments. Strong scripting skills in Bash, Python, Expect, and AWK are required for automation and data analysis. The role demands a solid technical foundation in mobile broadband services and network performance.
