About the Role

SmartChoice International GCC is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to join their team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves building and operating the infrastructure for a rapidly expanding technology platform. The position requires 5-10 years of relevant experience.

Role Overview

This is a hands-on role focused on cloud infrastructure, automation, CI/CD, container platforms, security, observability, and production reliability. The Senior DevOps Engineer will collaborate with engineering teams to establish scalable, secure, and resilient environments, while also setting operational standards for the broader technology function.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and maintain scalable, reproducible infrastructure using infrastructure as code principles.
• Manage CI/CD pipelines, including build, testing, security, and production deployment.
• Oversee containerized workloads across Kubernetes and cloud-based compute environments.
• Develop safe deployment strategies with appropriate rollout, rollback, and recovery mechanisms.
• Manage cloud networking components such as API gateways, load balancing, DNS, certificates, and service connectivity.
• Implement identity, secrets management, and least-privilege access across various environments.
• Operate production databases, ensuring high availability, replication, backup, and recovery.
• Establish monitoring, alerting, and operational metrics for infrastructure and applications.
• Lead incident response and drive continuous improvement in reliability, security, and operational resilience.
• Optimize infrastructure utilization and costs, including high-compute workloads.
• Contribute to the creation of reusable platform capabilities that enable engineering teams to deploy and operate services independently.

Required Experience and Skills

Candidates should possess strong technical depth and operational judgment, demonstrating the ability to manage complex production problems, understand the impact of infrastructure changes, and build systems with reliability, security, and cost-efficiency in mind.

• 5-10 years of experience in a relevant DevOps or infrastructure engineering role.
• Experience operating AI, machine learning, or other high-compute workloads in production environments is highly desirable.

Desirable Advanced Infrastructure Experience

• GPU infrastructure and workload scheduling.
• Model-serving or inference platforms.
• Autoscaling and capacity management for compute-intensive workloads.
• Managing performance, utilization, and cost of high-compute environments.
