The Opportunity: Senior Localisation Engineer (Unity & Tooling)

We are seeking a Senior Localisation Engineer (Unity & Tooling) to serve as the primary architect of an Arabic-first localisation pipeline for a live, global game. This full-time, hands-on Unity role requires a professional who understands that effective localisation is built on robust code. The position involves addressing immediate technical challenges in adapting existing games for Arabic markets while simultaneously developing long-term automation tools for game teams. The engineer will own the entire pipeline, from RTL rendering to the automation processes that support multi-language shipping for live titles.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain core Unity packages and scripts that manage RTL text, dynamic layouts, and localised asset loading across various game titles.
• Create tools for automated string extraction and synchronisation with external translation systems, ensuring seamless integration with live-service titles.
• Refactor existing UI systems within game codebases to ensure compatibility with Arabic text expansion and RTL requirements.
• Implement AI-driven tooling for initial technical QA, automatically identifying text clipping and rendering issues specific to Arabic before human testing.
• Address complex localisation challenges unique to Arabic, including bidirectional text, text shaping, font fallback, and layout mirroring.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Expert Unity & C# Proficiency: A minimum of 7 years of software engineering experience in games, demonstrating expert-level proficiency in C# and Unity. This role requires daily engine development.
• Localisation Engineering Experience: Proven, hands-on experience in localisation or internationalisation, specifically in building core systems such as string pipelines, RTL support, and comprehensive text and font handling, rather than merely integrating existing assets.
• Text & Font Expertise: Direct experience with text rendering engines and font management. Familiarity with bidirectional text and text shaping is crucial, particularly for Arabic and RTL contexts.
• Tools & Pipeline Development: A strong history of building automated pipelines or developer-facing tools. Candidates whose experience is limited to gameplay-only engineering without infrastructure development will not be suitable.

Work Environment and Expectations

This role operates within a dynamic environment where a new localisation capability is being established. The successful candidate will be expected to function as a self-starter, capable of working independently and defining necessary actions with limited existing localisation expertise available internally. This full-time position is based in Riyadh.
