Saudi Arabian Bechtel Company has been appointed to provide project management consultancy services for the development of King Salman International Airport in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This state-of-the-art airport is designed to accommodate up to 120 million travelers by 2030 and 185 million travelers by 2050, with a cargo capacity of up to million tons by 2050. Bechtel's services will cover three new terminals: Terminal 6, Iconic Terminal, and Private Aviation Terminal and hangars.

Role Overview

Bechtel is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer (BMS specialist) for a full-time position in Riyadh. Reporting to the MEP Lead, this role is accountable for supervising and managing the work of the customer’s designers and contractors in the delivery of design for the airport terminal HVAC controls and building management systems (BMS). The position requires ensuring that technical outcomes meet both customer and project requirements through expert coordination and technical oversight.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage the customer’s designers and contractors in the delivery of terminal buildings BMS design.
• Review technical submissions from designers and contractors related to BMS.
• Support Contracts & Procurement in delivering design for procurement and post-tender technical evaluation and award recommendations.
• Monitor and report on the progress and performance of the customer’s designers and contractors.
• Coordinate with the Stakeholder Management team to ensure timely achievement of all required permits and approvals throughout the Project life cycle.
• Support Construction & Quality delivery teams during the execution of works related to terminal buildings mechanical systems, including resolving requests for information, field change requests, non-conformance reports, and work inspection requests.
• Support vendor factory testing and inspections.
• Support the Start-Up/Commissioning team from the outset to ensure start-up/commissioning and hand-over requirements are addressed early in the design process, and support testing and commissioning during execution.
• Coordinate BMS design with other project disciplines, review project design criteria, vendor submissions, construction inspection records, and startup test reports.
• Coordinate mechanical systems design integration across numerous contracts, work packages, and stakeholders.
• Liaise with customer representatives as the subject matter expert and accountable person for the delivery of mechanical systems engineering documentation, including presentations and reporting.
• Undertake audits, reports, and present findings of designer, contractor, stakeholder, and project team application and adherence to engineering processes and policies.
• Support the production of verification packages to facilitate turnover of completed mechanical systems and facilities.

Key Duties and Tasks

• Prepare estimates, work plans, and progress reports.
• Assist with the tender, evaluation, and award recommendations for the MEP contractor(s).
• Coordinate and collaborate with other teams such as Terminal Delivery, Stakeholder Management, Contracts & Procurement, and Start-up/Commissioning as required through all stages of the Project life cycle.

Experience and Qualifications

Candidates should possess 5-10 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering, with a specialization in Building Management Systems (BMS). The role requires strong technical expertise and coordination skills to ensure project requirements are met.
