About the Role

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Senior Planning Engineer to join its team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position is central to ensuring efficient project management across the Consultant's organization and with external stakeholders, focusing on major civil infrastructure developments within the Kingdom.

Role Context and Impact

The Senior Planning Engineer will play a critical role in the successful delivery of large-scale infrastructure projects, including roads, highways, utilities, bridges, and rail developments. The position requires a strong background in Project Management Consultancy (PMC) and extensive experience in the Saudi Arabian market, contributing to the strategic planning and execution of complex civil works.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain detailed project schedules using tools such as Primavera P6 or MS Project.
  • Create resource-loaded and cost-loaded schedules, ensuring alignment with budget forecasts and manpower planning.
  • Track project progress against baseline schedules, prepare S-curves, histograms, and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and report deviations with proposed recovery plans.
  • Conduct schedule analysis to identify delay causes, assess critical path impacts, and support Extension of Time (EOT) claims.
  • Collaborate with project managers, site engineers, subcontractors, contractors, and clients to gather data, validate progress, and ensure schedule adherence.
  • Analyze project risks related to scheduling and propose mitigation strategies to avoid delays and disruptions.
  • Ensure all planning activities comply with contractual and regulatory requirements, maintaining accurate records for audits and closeouts.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to verify actual progress against planned activities and adjust schedules accordingly.
  • Utilize advanced planning tools such as Primavera P6, MS Project, and Excel for schedule development, updates, and reporting.
  • Recommend improvements to planning processes, adopt new tools, and stay updated on industry best practices and methodologies.

Qualifications

  • A Degree in Civil Engineering is required.
  • PMP Certification and other Project Controls related certifications are essential.

Experience and Technical Skills

  • At least 10 years of experience in Planning and Controls, with a strong Project Management Consultancy (PMC) background.
  • Extensive experience in infrastructure projects, including roads, highways, bridges, utilities, rail, airports, and other major civil works.
  • Demonstrated experience working in Saudi Arabia, preferably on large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Proficiency in advanced planning tools such as Primavera P6, MS Project, and Excel.

This is a full-time position based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, requiring on-site presence and engagement with project stakeholders.
