SENIOR RECREATION THERAPIST

About the Role

King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre in Riyadh is seeking a Senior Recreation Therapist. This full-time position involves planning, implementing, and evaluating therapeutic recreational programs specifically designed to meet the needs of hospitalized pediatric patients. The role requires collaboration with other health team members to address the emotional and developmental requirements of patients.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess pediatric patients' developmental, physical, and emotional needs to provide appropriate activities and opportunities for social interaction.
• Evaluate pediatric inpatients' educational status and inform parents about the in-house education program, enrolling patients as applicable.
• Select and maintain equipment, toys, and educational materials for the recreation program.
• Coordinate playroom activities and programs, including performances by outside entertainment groups.
• Conduct daily rounds in patient wards, encourage participation in recreational activities, and provide one-on-one activities for bedridden or isolated patients when medically permissible.
• Collaborate with other health team members on patient and family assessments and observations.
• Assess parental teaching needs for providing appropriate activities for children and offer guidance as necessary.
• Assist with and participate in the training of Recreation Therapists, providing performance input to the Supervisor, Social Work.
• Supervise volunteers and students involved in the Recreation Therapy Programme.
• Manage playroom statistics and reports.
• Plan and organize celebrations for national holidays and relevant international events, and participate in health awareness campaigns.
• Ensure the continuous availability of toys and recreational activity items.
• Adhere to all Hospital policies and procedures.
• Participate in personal and professional education, training, and development.

Qualifications and Experience

• Experience required: 0-1 year.
