The Role: Senior Specialist, Data Science & Artificial Intelligence

Ma'aden is seeking a Senior Specialist, Data Science & Artificial Intelligence to join its team in Riyadh. This full-time position involves designing, developing, and deploying machine learning and Generative AI solutions to address specific business challenges. The role emphasizes ensuring technical robustness, model performance, and responsible AI implementation within the company's operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and validate machine learning, deep learning, and Generative AI models, including those based on Large Language Models (LLMs).
• Implement prompt engineering strategies and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines.
• Perform feature engineering, model tuning, and performance optimization for AI solutions.
• Prepare, cleanse, and transform both structured and unstructured datasets for model training.
• Support the deployment of ML and GenAI models by applying MLOps and LLMOps practices.
• Conduct structured evaluations of LLM outputs, including hallucination detection and quality scoring.
• Integrate AI solutions into enterprise systems using APIs.
• Document model design, assumptions, identified risks, and validation results comprehensively.
• Ensure compliance with established data governance, cybersecurity, and ethical AI guidelines.
• Support the monitoring, retraining, and lifecycle management of deployed models.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
• 4–6 years of professional experience in data science, machine learning, or applied AI roles.

Skills and Expertise

Candidates should possess strong technical skills in developing and deploying advanced AI models, including proficiency in prompt engineering and RAG pipelines. Expertise in data preparation, model optimization, and adherence to MLOps and LLMOps practices is essential. The role also requires a solid understanding of data governance, cybersecurity, and ethical AI principles, along with the ability to document technical work thoroughly.
