About the Venture Capital Associate Role

Merak Capital, a leading Saudi-based investment firm, is seeking an experienced Venture Capital Associate to join its team in Riyadh. This role is central to identifying and executing investment opportunities, fostering growth within portfolio companies, and contributing to Merak Capital's mission of empowering visionaries and driving innovation across high-growth sectors. The position is full-time and based in the Riyadh Region.

Core Responsibilities

The Venture Capital Associate will play a key role in the entire investment lifecycle. Key responsibilities include:

• Value Creation: Collaborating with portfolio companies to develop and implement strategies aimed at enhancing operational performance, market position, and long-term growth.
• Follow-On Investments: Evaluating and executing follow-on investment opportunities, which involves conducting due diligence, financial modeling, and risk assessments to support company scaling.
• Valuation Procedures: Overseeing the valuation processes for portfolio investments to ensure accurate and timely assessments in line with internal and regulatory standards.
• Strategic Advisory: Providing high-level strategic guidance to portfolio companies on business development, go-to-market strategies, governance, and operational efficiency.
• Portfolio Monitoring: Tracking and analyzing the performance of portfolio companies, preparing detailed reports and insights for internal stakeholders and leadership.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Working closely with the Deals Team, other business units, and external partners to align portfolio strategies with Merak Capital’s broader investment objectives.
• Team Leadership: Mentoring and guiding junior team members, such as Analysts and Associates, to foster a high-performing Portfolio Team culture.
• Market Insights: Staying informed about industry trends, market dynamics, and emerging opportunities within the venture capital landscape to inform portfolio strategies.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Candidates for this position should possess the following qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field.
• Between 2 to 5 years of experience in a Venture Capital investment role.
• Strong financial acumen.
• Demonstrated experience in portfolio management and value creation.
• A proven track record in managing follow-on investments, valuations, and strategic advisory for early-stage or growth-stage companies.
• Proficiency in relevant investment management tools, such as Excel and PitchBook, or similar platforms.
• Advanced skills in financial modeling (including LBO, DCF, sensitivities), valuation, structuring, and term-sheet negotiation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
