About the Role

Arabian Drilling Co. is seeking a Chief Electrician to join their team in Dhahran. This full-time role is critical for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of electrical systems on drilling rigs, contributing directly to the success of drilling operations.

Role Summary

The Chief Electrician is responsible for overseeing all aspects of electrical maintenance, repair, installation, and troubleshooting. This includes ensuring full compliance with electrical codes, safety regulations, and company procedures. The role also involves administering the Preventive Maintenance System (PMS) to guarantee timely servicing of all electrical equipment and managing parts ordering.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain all electrical systems and equipment on the drilling rig.
• Ensure strict adherence to safety regulations, electrical codes, and company procedures.
• Perform installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment.
• Provide technical expertise and troubleshoot complex electrical issues.
• Administer the Preventive Maintenance System (PMS) to schedule and track equipment servicing.
• Lead, supervise, and motivate a team of electrical technicians.
• Plan, organize, and execute electrical projects efficiently.
• Respond effectively to electrical emergencies.
• Conduct commissioning of electrical systems.
• Maintain accurate recordkeeping and documentation for all electrical work.
• Order necessary parts and manage inventory for electrical systems.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in onshore or offshore drilling operations.
• At least 3 years of experience specifically as a Chief Electrician.
• Proven experience in leading and motivating a team of electrical technicians.
• Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and execute electrical projects.
• Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (*, SAP) is a plus.

Required Skills and Technical Knowledge

• Strong understanding of electrical principles, applications, and safety protocols in hazardous environments.
• Good knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Field Devices (FD), and network communication types, including troubleshooting.
• Proficiency in computer software, computer hardware, and drilling electrical equipment.
• Ability to effectively use electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Familiarity with international cable size standards and the ability to perform basic power calculations.
• Strong knowledge of drilling equipment and rig operations.
