Heavy Equipment Operator Sideboom

About the Role

Front End Limited Company is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator – Sideboom for a full-time, on-site position in Dhahran, Eastern Province. This role is critical for pipeline construction projects, focusing on the safe and efficient handling of pipes along the right-of-way.

Role Context and Impact

The Sideboom Operator plays a key role in supporting stringing, welding, coating, and lowering-in operations during pipeline construction. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining spread progress while strictly adhering to lifting safety standards on site. Preference will be given to Aramco-approved operators.

Key Responsibilities

• Operating the sideboom in strict accordance with the manufacturer's load chart and approved lift plans.
• Holding pipe in precise alignment for the welding front, ensuring no shock loading occurs.
• Executing coordinated multi-machine lifts to lower welded strings into the trench.
• Completing documented pre-use inspections each shift and promptly reporting any defects.
• Assessing ground bearing capacity and stability prior to positioning the equipment.
• Working effectively to signals from the designated rigger under the direct supervision of the Pipeline Foreman and Lifting Supervisor.

Qualifications and Experience

• A strong background in pipeline construction operations, including stringing, welding support, lowering-in, tie-ins, and crossings.
• Proficiency in machine inspection and operator-level maintenance, with disciplined defect reporting and daily log keeping.
• Demonstrated ability to assess ground conditions, gradient, and trench-edge proximity, and to work safely alongside adjacent machines and crews.
• Ability to receive and confirm hand and radio signals, and to comprehend permit and lift-plan briefings.
• A commitment to stop-work authority, exclusion zone discipline, and full PPE compliance at all times.
• Experience required: 5-10 years.

Desirable Attributes

• Cross-country transmission pipeline experience on large diameter (24 inch and above) projects is highly desirable.
• Prior work on Saudi Aramco scope with a main contractor is highly desirable.

Work Environment

This role requires a willingness to work extended shifts, six days per week, on a camp-based rotation in remote right-of-way locations. The position is full-time and based on-site in Dhahran.
