About the Role

Acwa China is seeking a full-time I&C Engineer to join its team in Saudi Arabia, with operations spanning Neom, Duba, and Tabuk. This role requires 5-10 years of experience in instrumentation and control systems within industrial or plant environments.

Role Overview

The I&C Engineer is responsible for the comprehensive lifecycle management of instrumentation, control, automation, and SCADA systems. This includes design, installation, commissioning, operation, maintenance, and optimization. The primary objective is to ensure the reliability, safety, and efficiency of plant operations, adhering to company standards, industry regulations, and HSE requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, review, and optimize instrumentation and control systems for plant facilities and industrial processes.
• Develop and review technical documentation, including instrumentation specifications, control philosophies, P&IDs, data sheets, loop diagrams, hook-up drawings, and cable schedules.
• Select, specify, and evaluate field instrumentation (pressure, temperature, flow, level, analytical instruments, control valves) and review vendor documentation for compliance.
• Supervise the installation, testing, calibration, and commissioning of I&C systems, performing loop checking, functional testing, and system validation.
• Monitor the performance of PLC, DCS, SCADA, and automation systems, troubleshooting failures to minimize downtime.
• Develop and implement preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance strategies for instrumentation assets, including calibration programs.
• Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot PLC, DCS, SCADA, HMI, and industrial communication networks, supporting system upgrades and cybersecurity initiatives.
• Optimize process control strategies to enhance operational efficiency, reliability, and energy performance.
• Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and multidisciplinary engineering teams during project execution and support plant shutdowns.

Quality, Safety, and Documentation

• Ensure compliance with company policies, HSE requirements, and international standards (IEC, ISA, ISO, NFPA).
• Participate in HAZOP, SIL assessments, FAT, SAT, risk assessments, and technical audits.
• Prepare technical reports, maintenance records, engineering calculations, and commissioning documentation.
• Maintain accurate instrument registers, asset databases, and engineering documentation, providing recommendations for equipment lifecycle management.
• Promote a strong safety culture and ensure adherence to approved safe work practices.

Required Experience and Qualifications

• A minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in instrumentation and control engineering.
• Proficiency in designing, installing, commissioning, and maintaining I&C, automation, and SCADA systems.
• Strong understanding of industry regulations and HSE requirements.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex control system failures and optimize process control strategies.
• Experience with PLC, DCS, SCADA, HMI, and industrial communication networks.
• Familiarity with international standards such as IEC, ISA, ISO, and NFPA.
• Excellent documentation and reporting skills.
