SAP Functional Analyst

About the Role

KAUST (King Abdullah University of Science and Technology) is seeking an SAP Functional Analyst specializing in SAP S/4HANA Sales and Order to Cash. This full-time position is located in Thuwal, Makkah, and involves shaping the university's end-to-end sales, contracting, fulfillment, billing, and revenue processes. The role focuses on setting functional direction, simplifying legacy practices, and translating institutional needs into scalable solutions on KAUST’s SAP platform.

Role Context and Impact

The SAP Functional Analyst will lead a prioritized functional roadmap, promoting fit-to-standard and clean-core design principles. This position involves collaboration with business process owners, enterprise architecture, and delivery teams on integration, data, user experience, and change management. The analyst will evaluate SAP Fiori, workflow, analytics, SAP Business Technology Platform, and Business AI capabilities to address defined business problems and measure outcomes through process performance, adoption, and controls.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the functional roadmap for Sales and Order to Cash, ensuring alignment with KAUST strategy, business process owners, enterprise architecture, and SAP platform plans.
• Lead end-to-end process design across inquiries, quotations, contracts, sales orders, fulfillment, pricing, billing, receivables, and revenue recognition, adapting standard capabilities to KAUST’s research, education, and commercial activities as justified.
• Facilitate fit-to-standard decisions with stakeholders, challenging duplicate steps and unnecessary customization, documenting material deviations, and recommending upgrade-safe options under clean-core principles.
• Define business requirements and functional design for integration with Finance, Materials Management, Grants Management, revenue accounting, credit management, point-of-sale, and relevant non-SAP platforms, adhering to KAUST’s approved architecture.
• Partner with data owners to enhance customer, product, pricing, contract, and transaction data quality, including ownership, controls, and reporting definitions.
• Guide the design of role-based SAP Fiori experiences, approvals, workflow, and embedded analytics, involving users early and measuring the impact on task efficiency and reliability.
• Assess automation and SAP Business AI or Joule use cases based on value, data protection, human oversight, and platform readiness before recommending adoption.
• Provide functional leadership in transformation initiatives, including solution evaluation, delivery assurance, business acceptance, cutover readiness, and post-implementation benefits tracking; direct specialist configuration and testing through delivery teams.
• Advise on controls, segregation of duties, and auditability within the order-to-cash process in collaboration with Finance, Information Security, and risk owners.
• Maintain relationships with business leaders, SAP partners, and internal technology teams, translating complex options into clear decisions, trade-offs, costs, and measurable outcomes.

Required Experience and Skills

• 5-10 years of experience in a relevant SAP functional role.
• Ability to work under general direction with substantial autonomy, owning a functional roadmap and prioritized outcomes while escalating material investment, architecture, and policy decisions through established governance.
• Demonstrated ability to build consensus across Finance, research, commercial, and technology stakeholders, influencing process owners and delivery partners without relying on formal line authority.
• Proficiency in resolving complex cross-functional process and integration issues, balancing standard SAP capability, university-specific needs, controls, data quality, and long-term maintainability.
• Strong facilitation, analytical, communication, and change leadership skills.
• Capability to establish measures of process performance, write clear decision recommendations, manage competing priorities, and coach colleagues in modern SAP ways of working.

This is a full-time position based in Thuwal, Makkah, within the dynamic environment of KAUST. The role requires collaboration across various university departments and external partners.
