EHSS Engineer I

About the Role

Farabi Petrochemicals is seeking an EHSS Engineer-I to join its team in Yanbu. This full-time position is crucial for planning, implementing, and coordinating safety programs. The role involves applying engineering principles and technology to prevent or correct unsafe environmental working conditions, thereby ensuring a healthy and safe work environment across the organization.

Core Responsibilities

• Implement approved Department policies, processes, and procedures, and monitor adherence to ensure work is carried out in a controlled manner.
• Follow day-to-day operations to ensure compliance with established standards and procedures.
• Investigate industrial accidents, injuries, or occupational diseases to determine causes and preventive measures.
• Report or review findings from accident investigations, facilities inspections, or environmental testing.
• Maintain and apply knowledge of current policies, regulations, and industrial processes.
• Inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure safety regulation compliance.
• Conduct or coordinate employee training in areas such as safety policies and regulations, hazardous condition monitoring, and use of safety equipment.
• Interview employees to obtain information about work environments and workplace unsafe conditions & incidents.
• Compile, analyze, and interpret statistical data related to occupational illnesses and incidents/accidents.
• Recommend process and product safety features that will reduce employees' exposure to chemical, physical, and biological work hazards.
• Provide technical advice and guidance to organizations on how to handle health-related problems and make needed changes.
• Confer with medical professionals to assess health risks and to develop ways to manage health issues and concerns.
• Evaluate the adequacy of actions taken to correct health inspection violations.
• Write and revise safety regulations and codes as necessary.

EHSS and Security Management

This role is integral to ensuring comprehensive health, safety, security, and environmental (HSSE) compliance across the Company. It involves developing and evaluating programs to maintain a secure and safe operational environment.

• Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, security, and environmental procedures across the Company to promote a healthy and safe work environment.
• Recommend and evaluate the effectiveness of health monitoring programs.
• Review employee safety programs and work permit systems to determine their adequacy.
• Interpret safety regulations according to RC regulations and implement prevention methods for Occupational Health, Safety & Environmental protection.
• Develop operational procedures for a defined area to align security activities with overall Company objectives.
• Ensure emergency response at the company and design safety strategy, contributing to a healthy, secure, and safe work environment.
• Plan and implement safety and emergency training.

Reporting and Working Relationships

The EHSS Engineer-I assists in the preparation of timely and accurate reports for the Department, ensuring key information is captured and presented to decision-makers. The role operates within detailed standard practices and instructions, with work subjected to supervision.

• Collaborate internally with Operations, Maintenance, Technical Services, Project & Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Sales & Marketing.
• Liaise externally with existing and potential suppliers and contractors, Fire Training centers, JAMA’A, and RC to facilitate emergency responses and other operational needs.

Experience Requirements

Candidates for this full-time position should possess 5-10 years of relevant experience in environmental, health, safety, and security engineering.
