About SABIC and the Operation Engineer Role

This full-time Operation Engineer position is based at Saudi Kayan in Al Jubail, within the Eastern Region, offering an opportunity to contribute to the company's purpose of "Chemistry that Matters."

Purpose of the Role

The primary purpose of the Operation Engineer is to provide essential day-to-day operational and technical support to ensure the plant maintains planned production levels. This involves comprehensive troubleshooting, plant optimization, and diligent management of plant economics and finances. The role also entails leading debottlenecking efforts, commissioning new processes, optimizing plant performance, and tracking key yield parameters to ensure efficient plant functioning. A critical aspect is ensuring strict adherence to quality and safety standards, in line with SHEM/OMS and all applicable local and international regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and report daily plant performance, including operating conditions, quality, productivity, production, environmental data, shutdown reports, and month-end closing reports.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues and deviations, providing immediate technical solutions, monitoring production quality, and advising on corrective actions. Identify production losses and lead troubleshooting tasks requiring cross-departmental collaboration.
  • Prepare production plans, coordinate with business planning, communicate with the SBU and PLE, and verify invoices for feedstock, chemicals, and catalysts.
  • Participate in PHA and HAZOP studies for Management of Change (MOC) packages, coordinate modification implementation, oversee the MOC process, review Design Packages (CDPs), lead CAPEX initiatives, and coordinate business development with SABIC T&I.
  • Participate in accident/incident investigation committees, recommend corrective actions, engage in HAZOP revalidation, conduct necessary Risk Assessments, and perform Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSRs) as required.
  • Contribute to SOP reviews, ensure and monitor plant sustainability performance, advise on plant waste management, manage plant production and throughput, and work to improve production costs.
  • Monitor production quality to ensure compliance with approved specifications, provide technical analysis and support for any deviations, and ensure adherence to global standards such as GMP, HALAL, KOSHER, and ISO 9001 requirements. Provide support for certification auditing.

Required Experience

Candidates for this Operation Engineer role should possess 0-1 years of relevant experience. This position is suitable for individuals at the early stages of their engineering career, seeking to develop expertise in plant operations and technical support within the chemical industry.
