Business Development Associate MEA

About the Role

Bechtel Corporation is establishing a new Energy office in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia, to serve as a regional hub for innovation and engineering. This full-time Business Development Associate MEA position will be based in Bechtel's Dammam office, supporting growth across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The role involves contributing to the delivery of oil, gas, chemical, and New Energies projects that align with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030.

Role Overview

The Business Development Associate will be a key member of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Business Development team, reporting directly to the Vice President, Business Development and Strategy for the MENA region. This position focuses on building and maintaining relationships with key contacts in Saudi government entities, national companies, private-sector customer organizations, strategic vendors, and in-Kingdom partners. The associate will develop bid and proposal strategies to demonstrate how Bechtel can support customer objectives, including those related to Saudi Vision 2030, aiming to expand market reach and drive growth for Bechtel in the Kingdom.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and monitor market profiles, customer profiles, and business development activity reports.
• Conduct research on customers, competitors, and market project pipelines, presenting findings to business development colleagues and general management.
• Maintain activity data in the customer relationship management system, including call notes, prospect records, and win plans.
• Build personal relationships with contacts in customer organizations, strategic vendors, and local partners.
• Develop marketing information for use by the business development team.
• Participate in the management of proposal development efforts, including content production and assembly.
• Support the integration of local content requirements into pursuit and bid strategies.
• Stay informed on industry trends and relationships that may impact Bechtel’s business development performance.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience, or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.
• Experience in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia or the wider GCC region is required.

Required Skills and Knowledge

• Ability to support business development management with research on projects, customers, and technologies.
• Experience in managing and coordinating industry events, conferences, and customer engagements within the Kingdom.
• Capability to interface with broader business development and proposal teams, including global business line and MENA regional colleagues.
• Proficiency in building and presenting client plans and attending client meetings.
• Skill in building and maintaining customer and project tracking in Microsoft Dynamics.
• Ability to prepare and route project approval documentation.
• Knowledge of the KSA market, including key government, national company, and private-sector customers and their procurement practices.
• Willingness to travel within the Kingdom and the wider GCC region as required.

Work Environment

This role is based in Bechtel's Dammam office, supporting the newly established Middle Eastern hub in Al Khobar. The position involves working on a variety of Energy Transition, Decarbonization, eFuel, Hydrogen Value Chain, Oil and Gas, and Petrochemical projects, from studies, FEEDs, PMCs, and detail design.
