About the Role

Wood is seeking an ED III Civil/Structural Designer to join its team in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role is suited for professionals with 5-10 years of experience in civil/structural design within the energy and materials sectors. The successful candidate will contribute to designing and advancing projects by preparing detailed engineering drawings and plans.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare engineering drawings from sketches or general design information, adhering to established standards and procedures.
• Create designs and detailed plans for commercial, industrial, and civil sector structures, as well as plant and manufactured products and systems.
• Plan and execute technical assignments of varied complexity, involving diverse procedures and techniques.
• Develop working drawings in compliance with company and industry standards and codes, utilizing equipment specifications and detailed drawings to support engineering deliverables.
• Generate drawings that include plans, layouts, calculations, and bills of material.
• Perform layouts, design, and checking work based on supplied data.
• Design and create detailed drawings from rough sketches, involving intricate calculations and the application of fundamental engineering principles.
• Establish project drafting standards and monitor their conformance.
• Identify cost-effective solutions for design problems and assist in bid evaluations.
• Prepare estimates for time, quantities, materials, and labor required for activities related to testing, installation, manufacture, design, or construction.
• Ensure quality in design and technical accuracy in the preparation of drawings and material quantities, including reviewing others' work at more senior levels.
• Plan assigned work effectively, liaising with the project team and line manager to manage man-hours and achieve targets.
• Conduct site visits and surveys, providing input for site visit reports.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Educational degree in Civil/Structural engineering discipline.
• A comprehensive understanding of materials and methods typically used in civil/structural design.
• Understanding of related engineering principles and practices, complemented by training and diversified experience in the field.
• Proficiency in preparing mechanical or digital drawings, diagrams, blueprints, and models using computer-aided drafting (CAD) and/or computer-aided drafting and design (CADD) software.
• Capability to interpret key documents including engineering standards, piping material specifications, P&IDs, and Line Lists.
