About the Role

Microsoft is seeking a Data Center Technician (DCT) to join its Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) team in Dammam, Eastern Province. This full-time position plays a crucial role in maintaining the core infrastructure that powers Microsoft's global cloud services, including Azure, Office 365, and Xbox. As a DCT, you will be instrumental in ensuring the operational efficiency and integrity of Microsoft's extensive data center network.

Role Overview

In this role, you will be responsible for staging, setting up, and deploying hardware within the data center. You will also perform troubleshooting and diagnostics on equipment, as well as hardware decommissioning for routine changes and upgrades, all while adhering to Standard Operating Procedures. This position offers an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of data center operations, develop mentoring skills by guiding peers, and become familiar with security and data management protocols, contributing to your career growth within Microsoft.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting following standard procedures to identify and resolve equipment issues, replacing faulty components with minimal disruption.
• Conduct post-execution quality checks to ensure grounding, staging, labeling, and cabling meet safety protocols, deployment standards, and planned Network Design Tasks (NDTs).
• Decommission hardware for simple changes and refreshes, such as memory upgrades or rebuilds, following established procedures with minimal supervision.
• Communicate, report, and escalate incidents to appropriate Microsoft data center operations management, Technician Leads, and engineering specialists.
• Assist and provide guidance to other technicians on challenging or complex tasks.
• Complete required role-aligned training and gain hands-on experience through observation and on-the-job training.
• Contribute to a positive team environment by sharing information, participating in team meetings, and staying informed about colleagues' work.
• Demonstrate accountability and ownership for service quality, completeness, and the resulting user experience, taking pride in data center facilities.
• Embody Microsoft's culture and values in all aspects of the role.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic knowledge of computer hardware and components.
• Experience supporting IT equipment or related technology.

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications are considered advantageous:

• Additional experience supporting IT equipment or related technology.
• Relevant certifications such as CompTIA (A+, Server+, Network+) or Basic Structure Cabling (BSC).

Security Screening

This role requires the ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements. This includes passing the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
