About the Role

Role Overview

The Medical Laboratory Technician will be responsible for performing a variety of laboratory tests and procedures. This role involves operating and maintaining laboratory equipment, collecting and preparing specimens, and accurately documenting and reporting results. The technician will work under the supervision of a specialist to ensure the quality and accuracy of laboratory services.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect, operate, and service laboratory equipment, including sample preservation and examination instruments.
• Adjust and monitor equipment settings based on the specific type of test being performed.
• Review physician requests to determine the appropriate tests to be conducted.
• Collect blood, urine, and stool specimens, ensuring proper labeling with patient data.
• Preserve specimens according to established principles to maintain their integrity.
• Prepare samples for examination and culture, selecting necessary materials in the required quantities and specifications.
• Perform various chemical, physical, and microscopic examinations and analyses on prepared samples.
• Extract and document test results accurately.
• Dispose of laboratory specimens after testing, documenting the disposal procedures.
• Prepare and submit work reports, ensuring proper documentation and saving of records.

Qualifications and Experience

• Experience required: 0-1 years.
• Proficiency in inspecting, operating, and servicing laboratory equipment.
• Ability to collect and prepare various types of specimens.
• Skills in performing chemical, physical, and microscopic examinations.
• Competence in documenting and reporting test results.
• Understanding of specimen preservation and disposal principles.
