Storage Backup Administrator

About the Role

NextEra is seeking a Senior Storage & Backup Engineer with over 10 years of experience in technical expertise in Storage & Backup. This full-time position is based in Dammam, Eastern region, and involves the administration, support, monitoring, optimization, and operational management of enterprise storage and backup infrastructure across client group entities. The engineer will ensure data availability, integrity, storage performance, backup reliability, capacity management, and disaster recovery readiness within corporate and industrial environments operating under the ITSS Managed Services model. This role provides L3 technical support for enterprise SAN/NAS storage, backup systems, SAN switches, tape libraries, archiving, recovery, and disaster recovery infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer, configure, monitor, and maintain enterprise SAN and NAS storage environments, including Huawei OceanStor Dorado, Huawei OceanProtect, and HPE Alletra platforms.
• Manage and troubleshoot Brocade SAN switches, zoning, Fibre Channel connectivity, and storage access.
• Administer and support enterprise backup infrastructure using Veeam, including configuring, monitoring, and troubleshooting scheduled backup jobs.
• Perform and support data restoration and recovery activities, managing backup policies, job schedules, retention, and recovery requirements.
• Administer and support HPE StoreEver MSL3040 Tape Libraries, managing tape backup, retention, rotation, and archiving.
• Provide L3 technical support for storage, SAN, backup, and recovery-related incidents, performing Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for recurring issues.
• Support Disaster Recovery, DRaaS, and IaaS solutions, ensuring infrastructure readiness and participating in DR testing.
• Ensure storage and backup operations comply with ITSS governance, cybersecurity, audit, and operational requirements.
• Monitor storage capacity, utilization, performance, and growth, performing proactive capacity forecasting and optimization.
• Identify opportunities to automate backup scheduling, monitoring, reporting, and capacity management, recommending improvements for resilience and efficiency.

Technical Environment and Tools

• Huawei OceanProtect X6000 (2 Units)
• HPE Alletra 6000 (1 Unit)
• HPE StoreEver MSL3040 Tape Library (3 Units)
• Veeam Backup System (450 Licenses)
• Brocade SAN Switches (Enterprise SAN Environment)
• NAS Storage (Enterprise NAS Environment)

Hands-on experience with these technologies, or equivalent enterprise-grade storage and backup platforms, is highly preferred.

ITSM and ITIL Requirements

Candidates should have experience working with ITSM platforms such as ServiceNow, Remedy, or equivalent enterprise ITSM solutions. A good understanding of ITIL processes is also required, including Incident Management, Problem Management, Change Management, Capacity Management, Availability Management, and Service Request Management.

Required Skills and Competencies

• Strong knowledge of enterprise Storage, Backup, SAN, NAS, and Data Center infrastructure.
• Strong troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis capabilities.
• Experience handling business-critical production infrastructure.
• Good understanding of storage architecture and enterprise backup solutions, including backup retention, archiving, restoration, and Disaster Recovery concepts.
• Ability to handle complex L3 incidents independently.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong technical documentation and reporting skills.
• Ability to coordinate effectively with OEMs, vendors, infrastructure teams, application teams, and other technical stakeholders.
• Experience working in enterprise Managed Services environments is preferred.

Performance Indicators

Performance will be measured against SLA compliance for storage and backup incidents, infrastructure availability, backup job success, recovery readiness, reduction in recurring incidents, timely resolution of issues, accuracy of reporting, successful Disaster Recovery testing, and adherence to cybersecurity, audit, governance, and change-management requirements.
