The Accountant Role

SGR is seeking a full-time Accountant in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to manage daily financial recording and reconciliation activities for its refining operations. This role is crucial for ensuring accurate general ledger maintenance, supporting monthly closing processes, and maintaining compliance with Saudi tax regulations. The Accountant will report directly to the Finance Manager, playing a key role in maintaining financial integrity across operational and corporate functions, and supporting the timely production of financial statements that reflect the cost of refining and bullion inventory valuation.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain the general ledger by posting accurate journal entries for refining costs, bullion inventory movements, and corporate expenses.
• Calculate and file monthly and quarterly VAT returns through the ZATCA portal in full compliance with Saudi tax laws.
• Reconcile physical bullion and dore inventory counts with system records to identify and resolve discrepancies promptly.
• Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations for key accounts, including cash, inventory, and accrued liabilities.
• Maintain the fixed asset register and calculate depreciation for plant equipment, laboratory instruments, and corporate assets.
• Prepare audit schedules and retrieve supporting documentation for external auditors during interim and final audits.
• Allocate refining costs, including chemicals and energy, to specific production batches for accurate cost of goods sold reporting.

Performance Objectives

• Achieve 100% on-time filing of VAT returns with zero penalties from ZATCA.
• Complete monthly bank reconciliations within five working days of month-end.
• Reduce general ledger reconciliation discrepancies to less than 1% of total transactions.
• Successfully support the annual external audit with no major findings in assigned areas.
• Implement an improved fixed asset tracking process that aligns with physical verification.
• Maintain an up-to-date fixed asset register with 100% accuracy in depreciation calculations.

Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented professional with 5-10 years of experience in accounting, preferably within a regulated industrial environment. This position requires proven ability to manage VAT compliance, inventory reconciliations, and payroll support effectively.
