DevOps Engineer (Mid Level)

About the Role

NovaLexi is seeking a DevOps Engineer (Mid Level) to join their team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves managing the platform's CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and observability on Google Cloud, while also contributing to the migration from VM-based deployments to Kubernetes and GitOps. The successful candidate will ensure all environments remain secure, automated, and compliant with regulatory controls.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines (Cloud Build / GitHub Actions) for safe, incremental, zero-downtime deployments.
• Operate and extend the GitOps delivery path, including Kustomize overlays, image promotion, and automated reconciliation.
• Support the platform's migration to Kubernetes, ensuring both deployment paths function effectively during the transition.
• Implement and maintain infrastructure as code across all environments, utilizing reviewed plans and shared modules.
• Manage containerized workloads daily, covering ingress, resource limits, autoscaling, and troubleshooting failed rollouts.
• Enhance observability through structured logging, metrics, dashboards, and alerting, expanding from Sentry and lograge to full Cloud Monitoring and Cloud Logging coverage.
• Implement platform hardening measures according to defined controls, including secret management with rotation, workload identity, and least-privilege IAM.
• Operate the KSA cloud-region footprint (GCP me-central2), managing backups, backup verification, and executing disaster-recovery drills.
• Own supply-chain and pipeline security, performing container-image and dependency scanning, SBOM and provenance generation, and secret scanning.
• Maintain alpha, QA, staging, staging-QA, and production environments, including data anonymization for non-production environments.
• Support on-call rotations, maintain the runbook library with the support team, and manage per-environment cost budgets and alerting.

Qualifications and Experience

• 3–5 years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering, with production ownership of infrastructure.
• Strong, hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform, including IAM, GKE, Artifact Registry, and Compute Engine.
• Experience with Kubernetes in production environments, covering deployments, ingress, resource management, and troubleshooting.
• Proficiency in GitOps delivery with Kustomize and Argo CD or Flux.
• Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform or equivalent) in a team context, including remote state, shared modules, and reviewed plans.
• Proficiency with Docker and CI/CD pipeline design (Cloud Build / GitHub Actions) using Bash or Python scripting.
• Solid Linux troubleshooting skills at the container level and participation in production incidents.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced startup environment, demonstrating self-managed time, adaptability to changing priorities, and timely delivery.
• Ability to effectively use AI tools, such as Claude Code, to enhance productivity and work quality.

Preferred Qualifications

• GCP Professional certification (Cloud DevOps Engineer or Cloud Engineer).
• Experience with KSA cloud regions (me-central2) and data-residency-constrained environments.
• Familiarity with Saudi cybersecurity controls (NCA ECC-1, CCC-2) and PDPL.
• Experience with OpenTelemetry or migrating production workloads from VMs onto Kubernetes.
• Professional Arabic alongside English.
