Director of Finance

About the Role

The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, *** is seeking a Director of Finance for a contract position in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This role functions as the strategic financial business leader for the property, responsible for developing and implementing property-wide strategies to deliver products and services that meet or exceed brand and customer expectations. The Director of Finance provides essential financial expertise to ensure the successful implementation of brand service strategies and initiatives, while maximizing return on investment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategies to improve profit, including cost/benefit analysis and exploration of new business opportunities.
• Analyze financial information, forecast sales against expenses, and create annual budget plans.
• Compile, analyze, and monitor actual sales against projected sales, and analyze differences between actual and forecasted wages for efficient budget planning.
• Create the annual operating budget for the property and provide analytical support during budget reviews to identify cost-saving and productivity opportunities.
• Implement appropriate controls to manage business risks and ensure a strong accounting and operational control environment.
• Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive annual business plan aligned with company and brand strategic direction.
• Provide ongoing analytical support by monitoring operating department sales and producing accurate forecasts.
• Utilize interpersonal and communication skills to lead and influence teams, advocating sound financial decision-making.
• Oversee internal, external, and regulatory audit processes.
• Attend meetings with owners to understand priorities and strategic focus, and advise the General Manager and executive committee on operating/financial issues.
• Manage property working capital and cash flow in accordance with brand standards and owner requirements.
• Ensure accurate documentation of Profits and Losses, monitor applicable taxes, and submit timely reports.
• Ensure compliance with management contracts, reporting requirements, and standard operating procedures.
• Ensure team members are cross-trained, administer property policies fairly, and facilitate new hire orientation and training.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 5-10 years of relevant experience is required.
• Demonstrated ability to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts by breaking down information or data.
• Proven capacity to think creatively and practically to develop, execute, and implement new business plans.
• Strong functional leadership and communication skills to influence executive teams and property strategies.
• Ability to communicate financial concepts clearly and persuasively to drive desired behaviors.
• Understanding of cash flow and owner priorities.
