About the Opportunity
Mandarin Oriental is seeking a Director of People & Culture for its Al Faisaliah Riyadh property. This full-time role is based within the P&C Department in Riyadh and is responsible for managing the People & Culture function for the property. The Director functions as an effective business partner and consultant to management and colleagues, owning specific local/regional projects to optimize divisional efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and drive the property’s People strategy in line with the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group.
- Set up and oversee all People & Culture practices, processes, and systems, ensuring successful operation.
- Provide guidance to Division and Department Heads on all matters pertaining to employment functions and procedures.
- Prioritize and document colleagues’ career paths and development needs in accordance with MO systems.
- Ensure the Hotel’s total compensation and benefits package is competitive within the marketplace, supported by current surveys.
- Regularly review all jobs to provide internal and external equity in terms of compensation.
- Ensure a payroll system is in place and salaries are paid on time.
- Monitor legislative developments and interpret their implications for the Hotel.
- Spearhead and implement measures and policies to ensure a positive colleague climate, high morale, and effective communication.
- Promote good colleague relations through various programs, maintaining proper procedures for counselling and grievance handling.
- Support and organize social and sports activities for colleagues.
- Ensure every colleague has a valid employment contract, working permits, and visa where required.
- Comply with Saudi Labour laws.
- Oversee the implementation of FLHSS, OHS, and sustainability policies and procedures within the department, providing visible leadership and commitment.
- Understand and disseminate all corporate and hotel policies and standard operating procedures to colleagues.
- Ensure effective emergency procedures are in place and practiced regularly, and that contractors and colleagues meet MORYD safety rules.
- Hold monthly meetings with all colleagues to provide a forum for concerns, challenges, and information sharing.
- Act as a hotel ambassador at all times and carry out additional duties related to hotel operational activities as requested by management.
Experience and Qualifications
Candidates for this full-time position should possess 5-10 years of experience in People & Culture management. The role requires a comprehensive understanding of HR best practices and the ability to effectively partner with various departments to achieve guest service and business objectives.
People & Culture Function Oversight
The Director of People & Culture holds overall responsibility for planning, directing, and implementing policies and activities across talent acquisition, compensation & benefits, learning & development, colleagues’ relations, safety & health, and management organisation and practices. This includes providing each department with the necessary people, guidance, and support.
Compliance and Operational Standards
This role requires strict adherence to Saudi Labour laws and the implementation of FLHSS, OHS, and sustainability policies and procedures. The Director will ensure all colleagues have valid employment documentation, understand corporate and hotel policies, and comply with safety rules. Effective emergency procedures must be in place and regularly practiced to maintain a safe and compliant work environment.
