About the Planning Engineer Role

Alfanar Projects is seeking a Planning Engineer to join our team in Riyadh. This full-time role is central to supporting large-scale real estate development projects, focusing on day-to-day scheduling, progress monitoring, and reporting across multiple concurrent initiatives. The position requires 2-5 years of relevant experience and involves close collaboration with site teams, project managers, and client-side planners to ensure schedules are accurate, credible, and actionable.

Schedule Development and Management

The Planning Engineer is responsible for comprehensive schedule management, including:

• Developing, structuring, and maintaining detailed project schedules in Primavera P6, covering civil, MEP, finishing, mobilization, and handover activities.
• Building and validating the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), activity logic, durations, dependencies, and baseline revisions.
• Managing change control for baseline revisions and ensuring approved schedules align with the project execution strategy.

Progress Monitoring and Analysis

Key responsibilities include tracking and reporting project progress:

• Collecting, verifying, and updating site progress data on a weekly or bi-weekly basis.
• Preparing S-curves, look-ahead schedules, manpower/resource histograms, progress reports, and management dashboards.
• Performing schedule variance analysis, identifying critical path shifts and delay causes, and recommending recovery actions.

Performance Tracking and Stakeholder Coordination

This role involves integrating performance data and coordinating with various project stakeholders:

• Tracking performance using Earned Value Management (EVM), including SPI, CPI, and forecast-at-completion trends.
• Coordinating with cost control teams to support cost/schedule integration and maintain a single source of truth for project status.
• Participating in progress meetings, following up on actions, and aligning reporting formats with client and consultant requirements.

• Solving related problems and escalating complex operational issues as needed.
• Ensuring quality requirements are met and contributing to effective quality control processes.
• Coordinating written systems, policies, procedures, and identifying automation opportunities for business process improvements.
• Complying with all relevant policies, procedures, work instructions, and Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) management procedures.

Required Experience and Skills

Candidates for this role should possess:

• A minimum of 2 to 5 years of experience in a planning or project control role, preferably within large-scale real estate or construction projects.
• Proficiency in Primavera P6 for schedule development and management.
• Demonstrated understanding and application of Earned Value Management (EVM) principles.
• Strong analytical skills for schedule variance analysis and critical path identification.
• Ability to coordinate effectively with various project teams and stakeholders.
