About the Role

Sandoz is seeking a Head Legal and Compliance for Saudi Arabia and North Africa. This full-time position is based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and requires over 10 years of experience. The role involves acting as a legal business partner to the Country Head, managing legal and compliance activities, and providing expert advice across various business functions.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as a legal Business Partner to the Country Head for all contractual negotiations and statutory obligations.
• Draft complex transactions and contracts independently, providing contextual legal advice and guidance, including training for key customers.
• Identify business activity risks and potential solutions, raising awareness of legal issues and ensuring early legal involvement.
• Conduct robust risk assessments to support recommendations and advise on appropriate actions for management decision processes.
• Manage significant disputes, litigation, and investigations, making independent decisions within established frameworks.
• Guide, counsel, and support the work of junior Legal counsels, paralegals, and support staff.
• Provide expertise in substantive areas such as Transactions, Litigation, HR, and Regulatory matters.
• Lead legal projects and transactions, including licensing and divestment initiatives.
• Lead, direct, and develop legal resources within one or across all business units in the country.
• Ensure compliance with reporting obligations for technical complaints, adverse events, and special case scenarios related to Sandoz products within 24 hours of receipt.
• Oversee the distribution of marketing samples where applicable.

Performance Indicators

• Provide problem-solving, business-oriented legal advice, assessed through customer feedback.
• Maintain compliance with all reporting obligations.
• Demonstrate effective prioritization and management of a wide-ranging workload.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in legal and compliance roles.
• Proven ability to provide clear, business-oriented legal advice.
• Experience in managing complex legal projects, transactions, and disputes.
