The Role of Lifeguard

The Lifeguard is responsible for ensuring the safety of all students, staff, and visitors within the school's swimming pool and aquatic facilities. This full-time position requires constant supervision of the pool area, enforcement of safety rules, and immediate response to emergencies, including providing first aid and water rescue. The role involves close collaboration with the Sports Department and Physical Education staff to support various aquatic activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain continuous supervision of the swimming pool and surrounding areas during all operational hours.
• Enforce pool rules, safety regulations, and capacity limits to ensure the safety of all users.
• Respond promptly to emergencies, providing first aid, CPR, and water rescue as needed, and escalate for medical support when necessary.
• Conduct regular water quality checks (chlorine level, pH, temperature) and report any issues to the Sports Department or Facilities team.
• Ensure all pool safety equipment, such as rescue tubes, first aid kits, and AEDs, is present, functional, and accessible.
• Support PE teachers and swim instructors by actively monitoring students during lessons.
• Verify students' swimming ability before allowing access to deep-water areas, in accordance with school policy.
• Maintain accurate logs of incidents, accidents, and near-misses, reporting them to the line manager without delay.
• Ensure the cleanliness and tidiness of the pool deck, changing rooms, and surrounding areas, keeping them free of hazards.
• Perform daily opening and closing safety checks of the pool and aquatic facilities.
• Assist in the safe organization and execution of swimming galas, sports days, and other aquatic events.
• Attend mandatory lifeguard certification renewals, CPR/first aid refresher courses, and safeguarding training.

Qualifications and Experience

• 0-1 years of experience in a similar role.
• Current lifeguard certification.
• Proficiency in first aid and CPR.

Child Safeguarding

Given direct and regular supervisory contact with students, the post holder is required to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people. Adherence to the school's safeguarding policies and staff code of conduct is mandatory. The Lifeguard will directly support the designated safeguarding lead to ensure the safety and well-being of all students.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The role involves working within the school's aquatic facilities and collaborating with the Sports Department team.
