Position Overview

UCC Holding is seeking a Mechanical Site Engineer (Fresh Graduate) to join our team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role is designed for individuals with 0-1 years of experience, focusing on supporting the coordination and management of mechanical trades within major construction projects. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the project team to ensure the successful completion of all mechanical trade work, from initial phases through testing, commissioning, and final handover, while adhering to project objectives, quality standards, and cost controls.

Project Engineering and Coordination

The Mechanical Site Engineer will play a crucial role in the engineering and coordination aspects of project execution, ensuring adherence to design specifications and quality standards. Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with the engineering design and supervision aspects of building manufacturing facilities.
  • Creating a comprehensive Contract Items List (CIL) for all required mechanical materials.
  • Performing quality control checks on mechanical subcontract CILs against the project CIL.
  • Managing Requests for Information (RFIs), including receipt, assessment, recording, and forwarding as required.
  • Receiving, reviewing, and coordinating all system shop drawings with contract documents, including mechanical, architectural, reflected ceiling, and structural plans.
  • Participating in the selection, sourcing, and final coordination of all final fix fixtures.
  • Developing and supervising mechanical activity assembly via contract documents, shop drawings, and coordinated drawings.
  • Assisting in the execution and supervision of subcontract package material assembly for tendering.
  • Supporting the establishment and maintenance of a comprehensive document control procedure.
  • Assisting the MEP manager in maintaining a registry for material submittals, samples, and shop drawings.
  • Monitoring required documents, certifications, permits, and No Objection Certificates from authorities.
  • Coordinating efforts among architects, consultants, contractors, sub-contractors, and internal staff.
  • Establishing and maintaining minimum monitoring requirements for material acquisition from subcontractors.

Construction Management and Procurement

This role involves active participation in the overall planning, coordination, and control of construction projects, alongside strategic procurement activities. Responsibilities include:

  • Resource loading the mechanical plan and publishing summations of all requirements.
  • Assisting in the design and supervision aspects of building manufacturing facilities.
  • Supporting project planning, coordination, and control from beginning to completion.
  • Acquiring necessary goods or services to accomplish company goals and maintain product quality and value.
  • Dealing with the allocation of assets and liabilities.
  • Ensuring mechanical subcontracts carry equal risk as the main contract (back-to-back).
  • Understanding and participating in mechanical tendering processes as guided by the Procurement department.

Financial Oversight and Risk Mitigation

The engineer will contribute to financial management and risk assessment, ensuring project viability and compliance. Key duties include:

  • Dealing with the allocation of assets and liabilities over time under conditions of certainty and uncertainty.
  • Using the project budget and contract value to develop a Schedule of Values for all mechanical works.
  • Ensuring that work in place meets or exceeds the minimum value for the planned effort for all mechanical works.
  • Identifying, analyzing, assessing, controlling, and minimizing unacceptable risks.
  • Identifying elements of mechanical design and construction likely to give rise to disputes and claims.
  • Supporting the MEP manager in preparing plans for any potential authority changes or disruptions related to mechanical systems.
  • Assisting the MEP manager in contractually responding to all written communication from clients, design teams, supervising consultants, subcontractors, public utilities, and government entities as it relates to mechanical systems and activities.

Qualifications and Requirements

To be considered for this full-time role, candidates should meet the following criteria:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
  • 0-1 years of professional experience, making this an ideal opportunity for a fresh graduate.
  • A foundational understanding of mechanical systems and construction processes.
  • Ability to work effectively within a project team and coordinate with various internal and external stakeholders.
