About the Role

Larsen & Toubro is seeking a Project Engineering Manager for a full-time position in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This role is responsible for overseeing engineering activities within projects, ensuring they are completed within stipulated timeframes, quality standards, and cost parameters. The Project Engineering Manager will also ensure adherence to project schedules and identify optimization opportunities for efficient project delivery and positive margins.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with the Project Planning Manager to align deliveries with the project schedule.
  • Conduct regular project review meetings to ensure schedule adherence.
  • Lead internal review meetings for resource optimization, allocation, and productivity enhancement.
  • Review designs, calculations, and drawings, ensuring timely submissions after customer approvals.
  • Clarify issues with vendors and ensure timely material delivery to project sites.
  • Manage multiple tasks and deliver various items on time.
  • Provide clarifications to inter-discipline Managers regarding design aspects of equipment.
  • Enable and review accurate quantity estimations for Bill of Materials submissions.
  • Review critical issues and procedural delays related to equipment design and support Site Execution teams.
  • Ensure BIM implementation in projects.
  • Resolve procurement issues and support Supply Chain Management in finalizing orders for Vendor Engineering.
  • Support BOQ, review pre-bid offers, technical submissions, and provide post-tender clarifications to the contracts team.
  • Lead and manage a team of Design Leads, Design Engineers, and Draughtspersons.
  • Review vendor evaluations against client technical specification requirements.
  • Support Site Execution Teams with commercial issues and bill processing.
  • Ensure issuance of Manufacturing Clearance through necessary communication with suppliers.
  • Communicate and clarify deliverable lists from clients and obtain resource requirements for projects.

Required Technical Expertise

The Project Engineering Manager must possess overall expertise in both primary and secondary engineering for substation projects. A thorough understanding of design aspects for GIS/AIS Substations up to 765 KV is required. Proficiency in the selection of equipment such as Power Transformers, Reactors, Circuit Breakers, Disconnectors, and Instrument Transformers is essential. The role requires familiarity with Substation Primary and Secondary Design, including Earthing, Lighting, Lightning Protection, Cabling, interfaces between Civil, MEP & Instrumentation, and Secondary engineering activities like Schemes, Wiring Diagrams, SCADA & Control Systems. Candidates should have detailed knowledge of equipment to be installed and market conditions for vendor engineering, along with the ability to understand and interpret contractual technical requirements.

Qualifications and Experience

  • 5-10 years of experience in a relevant field.
  • Experience in leading and executing projects for different geographies, clients, and utilities.
  • Strong interviewing skills.

Operating Network

This role involves internal collaboration with the Head of Engineering, Inter-discipline Heads, Project Execution team, Supply Chain Management team, Quality team, and Contracts team. Externally, the Project Engineering Manager will interact with customers (Engineering team), clients (Project Management team), and vendors (Engineering & Quality team).
