About Omrania and the Role
Omrania is seeking a QA/QC Engineer (Saudi National) to join its site supervision team in Riyadh. This full-time position is open to detail-oriented and analytical professionals with over 10 years of experience in quality assurance and quality control within construction.
Role Purpose
As a key member of the quality assurance team, the QA/QC Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that all construction activities comply with project specifications, quality standards, and applicable codes. The role involves comprehensive oversight of quality processes throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and monitor Project Quality Plans, procedures, specifications, and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) for all construction activities.
- Develop and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS), including procedures, guidelines, forms, data collection tools, reporting systems, and checklists.
- Plan, execute, and participate in internal and external quality audits, including supplier audits, and ensure implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Monitor and assess project risks throughout the lifecycle, proactively addressing potential issues to prevent scope and quality deviations.
- Supervise on-site and off-site construction activities, including mock-ups, samples, and manufacturing processes (FAT/SAT).
- Lead change management initiatives for product quality improvements, ensuring effective implementation of new standards and processes.
- Provide day-to-day support and guidance to project management teams and contractors on quality requirements and QMS implementation.
- Lead regular quality surveillance and coordination meetings to drive continuous improvement.
- Monitor and oversee contractors’ QMS implementation during project execution.
- Conduct inspections and testing of construction activities, including excavation, formwork, reinforcement, concreting, structural works, masonry, and finishing.
- Review and verify material test reports, mix designs, and calibration certificates.
- Ensure all materials delivered to the site comply with approved material submittals and relevant standards.
- Coordinate with clients and consultants on inspection requests and quality-related matters.
- Maintain and update quality control records, including inspection reports, test results, Site Observation Reports (SORs), and Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
- Manage NCRs, conduct root cause analysis, and implement preventive actions using methodologies such as Six Sigma or Lean principles.
- Ensure construction practices comply with approved drawings, specifications, and method statements.
- Assist in the review and approval of QA/QC documentation.
- Ensure all activities comply with safety and environmental requirements.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and provide feedback for process optimization.
- Analyze quality data to identify systemic issues and report on KPIs, PQIs, and dashboards.
- Lead site walkthroughs, raise punch list items, and review handover documentation packages.
- Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports to the Quality Manager, Program Director, and Client representatives.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in QA/QC roles, preferably within construction site supervision.
- Certification in ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management Systems).
- Certification in ISO 19011:2018 (Audit Management).
- Licensed Civil Engineer (preferred).
Essential Skills
- Strong analytical skills with a detail-oriented approach to quality assurance and control.
- Proficiency in developing, implementing, and monitoring Quality Management Systems (QMS).
- Ability to conduct thorough inspections, root cause analysis, and implement effective corrective actions.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills for liaising with project teams, contractors, clients, and consultants.
Work Environment
This full-time position is based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, within Omrania's site supervision team. The role requires active participation in on-site and off-site construction activities and regular interaction with various project stakeholders.
