Senior Registrar Family Medicine

About the Role

National Medical Care is seeking a Senior Registrar Family Medicine to join their team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position requires 2-5 years of experience and involves providing comprehensive outpatient care while maintaining high professional standards. The Senior Registrar will operate in accordance with evidence-based medicine, professional medical ethics, CBAHI/JCIA standards, hospital by-laws, and Ministry of Health regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure superior quality medical treatment, compassion, and understanding for all patients at Riyadh Care Hospital.
• Provide patient care within the scope of clinical privileges for both inpatients and outpatients.
• Serve in a consultative capacity as a Family Physician when required.
• Participate in the Department of Internal Medicine's on-call rota for patient care.
• Document patient status, including histories, physical examinations, investigation planning, treatment, and patient disposition.
• Conduct procedures such as diagnostic tap aspirations, biopsies, and electrocardiographic interpretations, as per privileges.
• Supervise assigned junior staff regarding their duties.
• Assess and refer appropriate patients under medical care to other suitable medical facilities.
• Conduct regular ward rounds independently and as part of a team with other physicians, as determined by the department head.
• Participate in assigned committee meetings, including Quality Improvement and Infection Control.
• Actively participate in training programs or educational activities for junior staff and nurses.
• Engage in Continuing Medical Education (CME) through national/international meetings, Morbidity and Mortality Meetings, Morning Reports, Grand Rounds, Clinical Lectures, Demonstrations, Tutorials, Resident seminars, Journal Club, X-ray, and Clinico-Pathological Conferences.
• Educate patients and families according to their needs, implementing the patient/family education process as outlined in relevant policies and procedures, including documentation.
• Involve patients and families in the plan of care, respecting their goals and choices.
• Provide health promotion and teaching using methods appropriate to the patient's developmental level, learning needs, readiness, ability to learn, language preference, culture, and situation.
• Allocate necessary time to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient education, ensuring appropriate documentation.
• Abide by the policies and procedures of the Department of Internal Medicine and the by-laws, rules, and regulations of Riyadh Care Hospital.
• Perform other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the employee's knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Carry out any other assignments as directed by hospital administration and/or the department head.

Reporting Structure

The Senior Registrar Family Medicine reports directly to the Head, Department of Internal Medicine. This role involves liaising with consultants within their specialty and other departments, nursing staff, other healthcare professionals, patients, and their families. The Senior Registrar will supervise Registrars, Residents, Nurses, and other paramedical staff assigned to them.

Qualifications and Experience

• 2-5 years of relevant experience.
• Demonstrated professional competence in Family Medicine.
• Adherence to professional medical ethics and established healthcare standards (CBAHI/JCIA).
• Knowledge of hospital medical by-laws and Ministry of Health regulations in Saudi Arabia.
