The Role of Site Reliability Engineer

MinIO is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to join its team in Riyadh. This full-time role involves collaborating with customers and the engineering team to enhance, optimize, validate, and automate MinIO's cloud-native storage platform. The position combines DevOps and software engineering responsibilities, focusing on delivering a high-quality product with strong performance, scalability, and durability to support demanding customer workloads for data storage and retrieval. The role requires deep expertise in DevOps practices, SRE, systems programming, distributed computing, and storage architectures, working with a team to advance object storage performance and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

• Enhance, optimize, validate, and automate core MinIO software for performance, scalability, and security.
• Contribute to building and delivering high-performance distributed storage solutions, with an emphasis on cloud-native architectures.
• Validate MinIO software according to customer environments and requirements to ensure smooth deployments.
• Improve existing features, resolve critical issues, and contribute to open-source repositories.
• Collaborate with other engineers on refining architecture, APIs, and integrations.
• Write efficient, well-documented, and maintainable code.
• Conduct performance benchmarking and debugging for complex storage environments.
• Work directly with customers to address issues and manage expectations.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of professional experience in software engineering.
• Demonstrated ability and willingness to work directly with customers to resolve problems through product enhancement and automation.
• Experience in DevOps, GitOps, automation, and testing frameworks.
• Expertise in distributed systems, networking, or high-performance computing.
• Experience with cloud-native technologies, including Kubernetes, containers, and microservices.
• Strong proficiency in Go is desired, or deep experience in C/C++/Rust with a willingness to learn Go.
• Deep understanding of storage systems, file systems, or databases.
• Strong problem-solving skills and experience debugging complex, large-scale applications.
• Contributions to open-source projects are considered a plus.
