About the Role

King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre in Riyadh is seeking a dedicated Staff Nurse I to join its full-time nursing team. This role is central to providing comprehensive, high-quality patient care within a leading medical institution.

Position Summary

The Staff Nurse I is responsible for delivering comprehensive nursing care, consistently utilizing the nursing process and adhering to established standards of nursing practice and performance. This position requires demonstrating leadership competencies, particularly when acting as a shift resource, team leader, or being in charge of a unit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide total patient care as assigned, in accordance with core standards of patient care, established policies, and evidence-based practices.
  • Assume accountability for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care, including discharge planning for each patient.
  • Contribute to reducing length of stay and waiting times, aligning with unit-specific goals, and collaborate with Case Management to achieve these objectives.
  • Document all relevant information accurately, appropriately, and in a timely manner.
  • Report equipment failures, safety and security issues, and reductions in supply inventory to the Head Nurse or designee.
  • Demonstrate collaborative multi-disciplinary partnerships to achieve continuous improvement in quality patient care.
  • Act as an advocate for patients and their families, identifying opportunities to improve patient care quality and addressing issues that may negatively affect patient outcomes, utilizing the professional practice framework.
  • Promote a safe environment and safe patient care by embracing a safety culture and identifying areas of risk to the Head Nurse or designee.
  • Comply with policies for personal and patient safety and for the prevention of healthcare-associated infections.
  • Contribute to cost efficiency savings on the unit by maintaining awareness of resource utilization and exercising care in the ordering and use of staff, equipment, and materials.
  • Contribute to the achievement of clinical quality outcome indicators and patient satisfaction, leading unit-based Performance Improvement activities as assigned.
  • Participate in the orientation of new staff and nursing students to develop their competence and performance, assisting in maintaining a suitable learning environment and acting as a preceptor/mentor.
  • Demonstrate transcultural principles in nursing practice.
  • Contribute to special projects and assignments linked to nursing strategic priorities and the professional practice model as assigned.
  • Assist in promoting and sharing knowledge through mentorship, in line with relevant research and evidence-based practice.
  • Follow all Hospital-related policies and procedures.
  • Participate in self and other’s education, training, and development, as applicable.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A Bachelor's or Associate Degree/Diploma in Nursing is required.
  • Experience requirements vary based on education and nationality:
    • Two (2) years of nursing experience is required with a Bachelor’s Degree.
    • Four (4) years of nursing experience is required with an Associate Degree/Diploma.
    • No experience is required for Saudi nationals holding a Bachelor’s Degree.
    • Enrollment in the New Graduate Development Program is required for staff with less than one (1) year of experience.
  • Current Registered Nurse Licensure from the country of origin is required.
  • Saudi Commission for Health Specialties Licensure is required.
